WTA Cincinnati Day 2 Predictions Including Leylah Fernandez vs Ons Jabeur

Ons Jabeur

We’re predicting the WTA “Cincinnati” Western & Southern Open for you. Of course, the tournament isn’t in Cincinnati this year due to COVID-19, but the concept is the same. It’s a big tournament as a prelude to the US Open. Who will advance on Day 2 (Sunday)? We’re predicting all of the matches, including Yulia Putintseva’s clash with Zhang Shuai, second seed Sofia Kenin’s match up with Alize Cornet and former US Open champion Sloane Stephens’ match against Caroline Garcia.

WTA Cincinnati Day 2 Predictions

CiCi Bellis vs Oceane Dodin

Dodin was once viewed as a potential future star, though she hasn’t broken through to the top levels yet. Bellis, meanwhile, looked like the next teenage tennis champion a few years ago, but injuries have derailed that. Still, Bellis has the higher potential, more talent, and likes these courts better. The American should win.
Prediction: Bellis in 2

Arantxa Rus vs Alison van Uytvanck

Van Uytvanck had been improving rapidly and impressing before the sport shut down earlier this year. She didn’t look great at her comeback in Palermo two weeks ago, but the surface and her groundstrokes should see her through this match.
Prediction: Van Uytvnack in 2

Laura Siegemund vs Marketa Vondrousova

Vondrousova is a potential future Major champion, though probably not on hard courts. Siegemund looked solid in qualifying for this tournament, but she probably doesn’t quite have the game to keep up with the Czech if her game is on. This match will be up to Vondrousova. If she plays well, she should win.
Prediction: Vondrousova in 3

Leylah Fernandez vs Ons Jabeur

Fernandez is a young Canadian who will probably be a future star in the sport, but Jabeur is playing the best tennis of her career. Fernandez has more talent, but Jabeur is playing the better tennis right now, and her experience should see her through a very tight one.
Prediction: Jabeur in 3
