Saturday in Paris, Andy Murray cruised past Juan Martin Del Potro, Fernando Verdasco and Stan Wawrinka scored easy wins as well, Kevin Anderson and Marin Cilic setup a round of 16 match, while Kei Nishikori, John Isner, and Frenchman Richard Gasquet and Gael Monfils are still looking to complete their matches. In addition, there are now four round of 16 matches tomorrow.
(5)Milos Raonic vs. (20)Pablo Carreno Busta
Raonic has never lost to PCB and he’s had an easy path to the fourth round. PCB upset Grigor Dimitrov in the third round, and has dropped just a set through three rounds, showing his continued improvements at the highest level of the tour, and on clay. Clay is the best surface for the Spaniard, and thus he could upset Raonic, who is not at his best on clay, but Raonic’s serve should be too powerful, and the Canadian still usually wins matches like this. (4)Rafael Nadal vs. (17)Roberto Bautista Agut
RBA eased past Jiri Vesely in the third round, although he dropped sets through his first two matches. Nadal has been completely unbothered, not dropping more than four games in a set through three matches. He celebrated his birthday on Saturday and the birthday boy should have an easy time in this one. Nadal has a h2h win, and more weapons on clay than RBA. Nadal in 3
(6)Dominic Thiem vs. Horacio Zeballos
Thiem hasn’t dropped a set through three matches, and looks to be the one player outside of the usual suspects Nadal, Wawrinka, and Murray that can take home the title in Paris. Zeballos hasn’t dropped a set in his two wins, and got lucky that David Goffin retired in their match, the Argentine has reached his best ever result in a Grand Slam at 32, and Thiem should show him what elite tennis is all about. Thiem in 3
(2)Novak Djokovic vs. (19)Albert Ramos-Vinolas
Djokovic has never lost to Ramos, and although he had two poor sets against Diego Schwartzman, being forced into a fifth, he still found an extra gear to put away the pesky Argentine, and hasn’t dropped a set otherwise. Ramos topspin is a danger, but the Spaniard has dropped sets in two of his three matches, and nothing indicates he has the consistency and mettle needed to defeat Djokovic. Djokovic in 3
