Day 2 at the WTA Qatar Total Open in Doha looks to provide us with a ton of amazing tennis. Day 1 kicked off the tournament well, and Monday promises 14 high-quality matches. We’re predicting almost all of them for you. We have four matches in this article, as well as two more articles. One features Amanda Anisimova vs Elina Svitolina, while the other headlines Iga Swiatek vs Donna Vekic.
Anett Kontaveit vs Anastasija Sevastova
This is one of many Monday matches that just seem like they belong deeper in the tournament. Both of these players are in the Top 40, but they are each capable of beating anyone in the world on their day. Kontaveit has more power and looks more consistent right now. This could go either way if Sevastova picks her form back up, but the Estonian is the clear choice right now.
Prediction: Kontaveit in 2
Dayana Yastremska vs Kirsten Flipkens
Yastremska is in strong form and looks like a future star. Flipkens, meanwhile, is far from her best and spent the end of last season competing at lower levels. This should be a quick and easy match for the young Ukrainian.
Prediction: Yastremska in 2
Saisai Zheng vs Marketa Vondrousova
Vondrousova was unfortunately caught by the injury bug after her incredible run to the French Open final last year. We don’t have any good way to see her form now, though she hasn’t been able to win much since coming back. She’s definitely not at her French Open level yet, though, and Zheng is a bad opponent to face if you have any doubts or inconsistencies in your form. I think this will be another disappointing loss for Vondrousova as she continues to come back.
Prediction: Zheng in 3
Kiki Bertens vs Karolina Muchova
Two strong players in good form meet way too early in the tournament. Muchova is a strong player and will be an absolute force on tour soon. Bertens, though, is a bit stronger right now. Expect an incredible match that could go either way, though.
Prediction: Bertens in 3
