ATP Houston Challenger Day 2 Predictions
Brandon Holt vs Colin Sinclair
Head to Head: never played
Brandon Holt is a very solid player. He does everything pretty well and has no glaring weaknesses. While Colin Sinclair did well last week in $15k tournament, he has done very poorly recently when going above that level. Expect Holt to force Sinclair to overhit in this one. Holt moves on easily.
Prediction: Holt in 3
Govind Nanda vs Michael Redlicki
Head to Head: 1-0 Nanda
Govind Nanda has had good results at the $25k level this season, but not much success above that level. However, he was very competitive in the Knoxville Challenger last week against Andrea Vavassori and won his opening round match in straight sets. Michael Redlicki can make opponents very uncomfortable when playing well with his huge lefty game. Redlicki is a much more experienced player and has played a lot more at the Challenger level. While Nanda won the only head to head and will make this match close, expect Redlicki to advance to the round of 16.
Prediction: Redlicki in 3
Sekou Bangoura vs Peter Heller
Head to Head: 1-0 Bangoura
Sekou Bangoura has played solid tennis in recent weeks and can rip the ball when given the chance. Peter Heller played so consistently in beating Alexander Ritschard in the first round, he forced Ritschard to beat him (as opposed to beating himself) and Ritschard eventually broke down. However, Bangoura has better rally tolerance than Ritschard and Heller will have to be more aggressive to beat Bangoura. Expect Bangoura, who won their previous matchup in straight sets, to not have many issues in this one.
Prediction: Bangoura in 2
Darian King vs Gonzalo Escobar
Head to Head: never played
Darian King plays very consistent tennis, moving his opponents around the court and waiting for his opening. King can frustrate opponents greatly. Escobar has a big lefty forehand and serve that is difficult for opponents to handle. However, King will be able to get a lot of balls back and force Escobar to overhit. While it won’t be easy, expect King to move on to the round of 16.
Prediction: King in 3
