WTA Tashkent Open Day 2 Predictions Including Jasmine Paolini vs Kristyna Pliskova

WTA Tashkent Open Jasmine Paolini

Monday saw a great day of tennis at the WTA Tashkent Open. It was a great day for LWOT predictions, too, as I went four-for-four, all of them with the correct number of sets. Will I be able to do that again? I highly doubt it, but it’s fun to try. With that being said, let’s take a look at four of Tuesday’s matches.

WTA Tashkent Open Day 2 Predictions

Olga Govortsova vs Tatjana Maria

Govortsova was once a Top 50 player but is well past her prime. She looked very strong in her initial qualifying match, and gutted her way into the main draw. Tatjana Maria is not an elite player, but she is solid and seems to be playing well enough to get through this match.
Prediction: Maria in 2

Pauline Parmentier vs Aleksandra Krunic

Each of these players has had a bit of a rough summer, as they have both fallen out of the Top 100 in the world rankings. Neither is playing particularly well right now. Parmentier did reach the quarterfinals of New Haven a few weeks ago, but her draw in getting there was not difficult. This should be a close match, even if not an amazing one, and I think Krunic will just barely edge it out.
Prediction: Krunic in 3

Kirsten Flipkens vs Timea Babos

There is very little to separate these two. Flipkens is right outside the Top 100, while Babos sits right inside. Both players have had decent summers, and each picked up an upset win in Seoul last week. This is another match that could go either way, and will come down to whoever doesn’t tighten up when we approach the end of the third set.
Prediction: Flipkens in 3

Jasmine Paolini vs Kristyna Pliskova

Pliskova has had a strong summer, kicked off by a victory over her sister back in Birmingham. Paolini, meanwhile, sits at her career high ranking after reaching the quarterfinals in Guangzhou last week. The Italian is on the rise, and I think her confidence will push her through this match.
Prediction: Paolini in 2
