WTA Strasbourg Day 3 Predictions Including Ashleigh Barty vs Daria Gavrilova

Strasbourg Day 3 Predictions

Tuesday at the Internationaux de Strasbourg will see second-round action in France and the rest of the top seeds entering into the fray. With the field desperate to pick up confidence-boosting wins in time for Roland Garros, which begins on Sunday, another day of upsets and quality tennis is in store for those in attendance. Here are our Strasbourg Day 3 Predictions.

WTA Strasbourg Day 3 Predictions

Dayana Yastremska vs Samantha Stosur

Both ladies eased through on Monday with straight sets over Pauline Parmentier and Jessica Pegula, respectively. Each is producing their best explosive tennis that has brought them so much success in the past. However, there can only be one winner, and Yastremska’s 7-5 6-2 victory over the Aussie in Stosur’s own backyard in Melbourne earlier this year puts her in the driver’s seat heading into this one.
Prediction: Yastremska in 2

Laura Siegemund vs Aryna Sabalenka

Another very interesting match-up on paper. Qualifier Laura Siegemund will be buoyed by her tight straight-set victory in round one ahead of her face-off against the hard-hitting Aryna Sabalenka. In a first meeting between the two, Sabalenka–who benefits from an extra day’s rest–will be keen to continue her red-hot form from her 6-0 6-1 steamrolling over Lin Zhu on Sunday. If Sabalenka can replicate such a performance, I can’t see Siegemund possessing the weapons to stop the Belorussian.

Caroline Garcia vs Shelby Rogers

I mentioned in yesterday’s preview that I saw this one being tight, and here we are heading Day 3 and the winner is yet to emerge. The match was suspended overnight due to rainfall in northeastern France. It’s a one-set shootout for a place in the last 16. Garcia fought back to square the match after Rogers eked out the first stanza. It’s a tight one to call but Garcia, backed by the partisan crowd, and using her tenacious on-court fight may just see this one through.
Prediction: Garcia in 3

Ash Barty vs Daria Gavrilova

Opening play on court Patrice Dominguez is Ash Barty vs Daria Gavrilova, an intriguing all-Aussie encounter. Barty has compiled a fantastic 24-5 win-loss record coming into this week, and as top seed she’s the strong favourite to progress to the last eight. She has a good record against her Russian-born countrywoman and friend Gavrilova. Barty has ousted “Dasha” in three of their four previous matches. The most recent was in Madrid just a few weeks ago, where Barty prevailed for the loss of just three games.
Prediction: Barty in 2
