It’s Thursday in Bogota, which means that we will find out who our quarterfinalists are. Four spots are already booked (well, three as of the time of this writing), which means that four more are up for grabs on Thursday. Who will win? Who will keep their dreams of a Copa Colsanitas crown alive? Let’s find out.
WTA Bogota Day 4 Predictions
Sachia Vickery vs Tamara Zidansek
Vickey looked on a mission in her first match in Bogota. She looks to be gaining her clay legs, though she definitely needs more experience on the red dirt. Zidansek is seeded here, but she struggled mightily in her first-round match. This is a good opportunity for the rising American, and I expect her to take it.
Prediction: Vickery in 3
Jasmine Paolini vs Lara Arruabarrena
Paolini got very lucky that Francesca Di Lorenzo couldn’t close out their opening-round match. It was a good win for the Italian, but beating Arruabarrena is going to be a step too far for her. The Spaniard is good on clay and in decent form.
Prediction: Arruabarrena in 2
Astra Sharma vs Magda Linette
Sharma picked up a very good win in her opening round. The former NCAA standout is finally finding her way on the WTA Tour. She still has a ways to go to be a top player, but winning a few matches here will help. Linette struggled in the opening round, and she doesn’t appear to be at her best form. Expect a tight match in this one, which really could go either way.
Prediction: Sharma in 3
Bibiane Schoofs vs Sara Errani
Schoofs is a consistent lower-tier player who can sometimes surprise, and Errani is on her way back from a longer-than-expected doping ban. The Italian is trying to get back to the top of the game, and she has the draw to make a statement here in Bogota. Expect an easy win, even if there are still signs of rust.
Prediction: Errani in 2
