Barbora Krejcikova Celebrates Winning Wimbledon Semifinal

WTA Wimbledon Second Round Best Bets Including Barbora Krejcikova vs Mirra Andreeva

WTA Wimbledon second-round play begins on Wednesday. The top players advanced out of the first round, setting the stage for a second round featuring all the familiar big names. Will this be a tournament in which the high seeds make it to the quarterfinals and semifinals, or will we see something like Roland-Garros, in which a lot of surprises and unexpected matchups emerged in the second week of the tournament? This second round might show what kind of path this event will take. Are we going to get stability and dependability, or will we see the kind of chaos that emerged in Paris four weeks ago? LWOS has our best bet for three matches. Post your best bets and thoughts in the comments.

Pegula – Sorribes Tormo: 9:30 EST

H2H: 1-2

The WTA Wimbledon tournament is widely viewed as being up for grabs, but if there’s a player other than Aryna Sabalenka or Elena Rybakina who has a good chance of winning, it’s Jessica Pegula. She has been playing good tennis. She is now away from clay, her worst surface. She is at least a threat to go deep into the tournament. Can she make the full run? She won her first-round WTA Wimbledon match against Darja Vidmanova in straight sets, but it was an uneven performance. Pegula took a quick 4-0 lead but then lost five of the next six games. At 5-5, she regrouped and managed to win the first set 7-5, but anyone who had Pegula on the game spread lost because of that horrible six-game sequence. She won by five games, enabling Vidmanova, the underdog, to cover the game spread. What will happen here against Sara Sorribes Tormo?

Best Bet to Make

Pegula winning in straight sets won’t offer much of a price, so you have to look at the game spread here. Because Pegula lost focus for several games against Vidmanova, it is not easy to trust her with a large game spread. Also, we told you to bet on the Sorribes Tormo moneyline in the WTA Wimbledon first round against Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva. If you took our advice, you were rewarded. Sorribes Tormo rolled to an easy straight-set victory and a cashed ticket. Sorribes Tormo seems like a player who can keep this match somewhat close. A 6-3, 6-3 Pegula win means Sorribes Tormo covers the game spread. We like that bet, though what you could also do is fold Pegula minus 4.5 or 5.5 games into a parlay.

That being said, betting on Sorribes Tormo +6.5 games is a value bet for sure.

Krejcikova – Andreeva: Time 10:30 EST

H2H: 1-3

What a delicious WTA Wimbledon second-round matchup this is. It’s a battle of two Roland-Garros champions, Barbora Krejcikova and Mirra Andreeva. What adds to the intrigue here is that while Andreeva is now a top-five player thanks to her French Open title, and Krejcikova is ranked over 30 spots lower, Krejcikova is a former Wimbledon champion. This is a situation in which the lower-ranked player is the better grass tennis player. Andreeva is a better player overall, but not necessarily on this surface. Andreeva had a decent but not great first-round match against Magda Linette. She won in straight sets but did not cover the game spread, winning by only four games. Krejcikova won her first-round match easily against teenager Hannah Klugman, who is not as good a player as Linette, if comparing these players’ first-round opponents.

Best Bet to Make

Krejcikova being a better player on grass doesn’t mean she will win, but it does offer a pretty good chance this match will be close. You could therefore go with Andreeva moneyline at 1.47 as a parlay piece. Believing this match will be close also means you could go with the over 2.5 sets bet for the always-great price. That bet makes sense here, to be sure. However, the most reliable bet to be found on this match, for a reasonable price, is Krejcikova plus 1.5 sets. She might not win the match outright, but she should be able to find a way to win one set against Andreeva, a player who will not overpower her from the other side of the court.

That being said, betting on Krejcikova +1.5 sets is a value bet for sure.

Bencic – Wang: Time 11:30 EST

H2H: 2-0

Belinda Bencic came to this WTA Wimbledon event not having played a lot of grass tennis in the warm-up events over the previous three weeks. There were injury concerns surrounding Bencic, so it was not easy to be confident about the outcome of her match. It turns out that anyone backing Bencic did not need to worry. She scored a 6-2, 6-1 win to get her tournament off to a great start. That result, even though it was against a much lower-ranked player, should inspire a certain degree of confidence in Bencic.

Best Bet to Make

Xinyu Wang won her WTA Wimbledon first-round match in three tough sets against Elisabetta Cocciaretto, a player who doesn’t do well on grass and who had been coming back from injury, trying to find some rhythm. Every win is good, but Wang needing three sets against Cocciaretto suggests she will be outclassed by Bencic, who is a far better player than both Wang and Cocciaretto and who plays well on grass. This feels like Bencic in straight sets all the way. The price is very good.

That being said, betting on Bencic winning 2:0 is a value bet for sure.
