The WTA Bad Homburg main-draw competition begins on Sunday. It’s the final pre-Wimbledon week of the 2026 grass season. Players who did not make very deep runs at grass tournaments over the previous two weeks are coming to another WTA Tour stop to get more match play before the year’s major grass championship tournament. Grass season comes and goes very quickly, as you know, so with Wimbledon only one week away, it’s a last chance for players to get their grass form in shape before going to the All-England Club. Players who lose early in this week of tournaments will be underprepared for Wimbledon. That’s the main source of pressure attached to these matches. LWOS has our best bet for three matches. Post your best bets and thoughts in the comments.
WTA Bad Homburg
Li – Alexandrova: Time 5:00 EST
H2H: 1-2
Ann Li faces Ekaterina Alexandrova in Bad Homburg. Li made a run to the Nottingham quarterfinals last week. She should feel moderately disappointed that she didn’t go even deeper in that tournament. She was up a break in the third set but lost that lead to Viktorija Golubic and dropped the match. Li goes through so many ups and downs in her matches. She can look great at times and then average at other times. She has to find a way to maintain a higher level of play in each match. Ekaterina Alexandrova had a very difficult clay season but is showing signs of beginning to play better. She beat Anastasia Potapova last week and then lost to Aryna Sabalenka, the World No. 1. The match was close: 6-4, 6-4. It will be very interesting to see if Alexandrova can continue to improve.
Best Bet to Make
This is not an easy match to call. Neither player is playing great tennis right now. Alexandrova might have gotten deeper into the Berlin tournament if she hadn’t faced Sabalenka in the Round of 16, but the main point is that she hasn’t won many matches of late. Li isn’t playing terrible tennis right now. She is winning matches at the tournaments she plays. However, she is not getting the most out of her tennis and is not fulfilling her potential. If you look closely, Li has gone to a third set in each of her last three matches. That point shows how up and down she is. This match looks and feels like a three-setter, so we’re going with the over 2.5-set bet, always great value.
That being said, betting on over 2.5 sets is a value bet for sure.

Osaka – Frech: Time 7:30 EST
H2H: 0-0
The next match at Bad Homburg features Naomi Osaka vs Magdalena Frech. Naomi Osaka has not played a tour match since Roland-Garros, where she lost to Aryna Sabalenka in the Round of 16. She is noted for not being a very good grass player, so it’s not shocking at all that she hasn’t played a match over the past two weeks. She has decided that this will be her main week of preparation for Wimbledon. Magdalena Frech is also not a very good grass player. She has played three grass matches this month and lost two of them, the most recent one being to Eva Lys, who is No. 80 in the WTA world rankings. Bettors will need to weigh Osaka’s lack of elite grass results against Frech’s lack of quality on the same surface.

Best Bet to Make
The Osaka struggle with grass is real, but Frech is not the opponent who is likely to take advantage of that flaw in Osaka’s overall profile. If Frech can’t even win one set against Eva Lys (she lost the match in straight sets), why would she be expected to win one set against a more talented player, Naomi Osaka? You should put Osaka moneyline into a parlay. Then, for your standalone wager, you should bet on Osaka to win in straight sets against an opponent who does not inspire any real confidence or trust. You could view this bet as fading Frech even more than trusting Osaka.
That being said, betting on Osaka winning 2:0 is a value bet for sure.

Samsonova – Siniakova: Time 5:00 EST
H2H: 1-2
Wrapping up Bad Homburg is Liudmila Samsonova against Katerina Siniakova. Samsonova has struggled this season. Her WTA ranking has progressively dropped with each week and month. She was near No. 20 several weeks ago and is now just barely in the top 40. She is looking for a spark this week. Katerina Siniakova was not able to make a deep run in Berlin this past week. She lost to an in-form Jessica Pegula, who reached the final of Berlin by beating World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka. Samsonova lost early in Berlin against Elise Mertens. It will be interesting to see how these players, separated by only three spots in the WTA rankings, fare against each other.

The head-to-head here has only three matches, which is a small sample size. However, a few details are worth noticing about the series between these two players. First, they have met twice at Bad Homburg in the recent past. Some players meet all over the world, but these players specifically have managed to cross paths at the same tournament, so they will both be used to playing the other in this environment. The other really big detail to note about this matchup is that all three previous meetings have gone three sets. That’s a real trend. The natural play, therefore, is over 2.5 sets. This match figures to be long and close.
That being said, betting on over 2.5 sets is a value bet for sure.
