Seven Women Receive Wimbledon Wild Cards Including Maja Chwalinska

The 2026 Wimbledon Championships begin on Monday, June 29th, and seven women have received wild cards into the singles main draw.

The major headline ahead of the tournament was whether seven-time Wimbledon champion Serena Williams would be a recipient after her shocking return to competitive tennis. As per the initial list, Serena did not receive a singles wild card, but has been awarded one in doubles with her sister Venus. On that note, let us take a closer look at who was granted a main draw wild card in singles.

Seven Women Receive Wimbledon Wild Cards

Top of the women’s wild cards list is French Open runner-up Maja Chwalinska. After her astonishing run at Roland Garros earlier this month, Wimbledon officials had no option but to grant the Polish sensation a main draw wild card. Chwalinska’s ranking was high enough to enter the main draw, raising questions about why she needed a wild card to play. But because the Wimbledon tournament’s cut-off entry list was formalized before the French Open, Chwalinska had not yet broken into the Top 100. This will be her second main draw appearance in the Wimbledon main draw.

The remaining six slots were given to British players, headed by the experienced Harriet Dart. The 29-year-old has reached the third round twice at her home tournament. Fresh from a standout season on the ITF Tour, Alicia Dudeney will make her Wimbledon debut. The 23-year-old has collected four titles on the ITF level this season.

Joining them will be Hannah Klugman, Mika Stojsavljevic, Katie Swan, and Minnge Xu. Apart from Swan, who lost in qualifying last year, the trio of Klugman, Stojsavljevic, and Xu were all wild card entrants in the 2025 edition.

One wild card spot is still vacant in the women’s singles draw, fueling speculation that one of the Williams sisters could be included in the final list.
