Mirra Andreeva in action ahead of WTA Rome.

WTA French Open First Round Best Bets Including Hailey Baptiste vs Barbora Krejcikova

The WTA French Open action begins. The 2026 edition of Roland Garros gets underway, as the second major tournament of the year and the one clay major arrives in Paris. This should be a very interesting women’s tournament, since there is no clear or obvious favorite going in. Iga Swiatek had a solid Rome tournament but lost to Elina Svitolina and is still not the dominant player she once was. Aryna Sabalenka is the top seed but has struggled recently. Coco Gauff is the defending champion but has been involved in a lot of three-set matches in recent weeks. The lack of predictability adds to the excitement around the event. It all starts on Sunday. LWOS has our best bets for three matches. Post your best bets and thoughts in the comments.

Baptiste – Krejcikova: Time 5:00 EST

H2H: 1-1

Hailey Baptiste versus Barbora Krejcikova is one of the better first-round matchups you will find on Sunday. It’s a battle between a rising young player, Baptiste, and the former Roland Garros champion who was injured but is slowly making her way back to regular tour competition. Baptiste’s really big win in recent weeks was her Madrid victory over Aryna Sabalenka, in which she saved six match points and managed to mount a late third-set comeback. Krejcikova, needing match play after being away from the tour for awhile, got to the Parma (WTA 125) final but lost.

Best Bet to Make

Hailey Baptiste’s strong run in Madrid and her generally positive run of form should give her a lot of confidence. Krejcikova has won major championships before, but she is not at peak form or fitness. As long as Baptiste doesn’t get too nervous and is able to play fairly close to the level she has recently established, she should win. Take Baptiste moneyline. The price seems almost surprisingly good given how solid her form has been.

That being said, betting on Baptiste winning is a value bet for sure.

Zakharova – Muchova: Time 5:00 EST

H2H: 0–0

Anastasia Zakharova faces Karolina Muchova. Zakharova is ranked No. 79, Muchova No. 10. Zakharova lost in Strasbourg’s qualifying rounds, so she failed to gain the momentum and match play she likely needed to feel good about her chances at the French Open. Muchova had a really good season through Stuttgart, where she made the final. She then had to pull out of Madrid and then lost early in Rome to Anastasia Potapova. She doesn’t have a lot of match play going into this tournament, which is her one real concern.

Best Bet to Make

The constant worry about Muchova is her health. Not playing a lot of matches going into the French Open is a source of concern, but if she is physically healthy, she should be able to take care of a clearly inferior opponent without too much trouble. You won’t get much of a price for Muchova winning in straight sets, so you need to go to the game spread. Muchova should be able to cover a medium-size spread.

That being said, betting on Muchova -5.5 games is a value bet for sure.

Andreeva – Ferro: Time 5:00 EST

H2H: 1–0

Mirra Andreeva begins her French Open campaign against Fiona Ferro. Andreeva is a top-10 player going up against Ferro, who is ranked No. 200. Andreeva has had a very good clay season. She won Linz. She made the semifinals in Stuttgart and then the final in Madrid. She reached the quarterfinals in Rome. That’s a lot of match wins in a month. Now Andreeva will try to carry that success to the year’s one clay major tournament. It will be interesting to see how much of a challenge Ferro is able to give her.

Best Bet to Make

The price for Andreeva winning in straight sets is small, so game spread is the play. You can get Ferro plus 7.5 games at 1.80, and you can get Andreeva minus 6.5 games at 1.65. You could bet on both of those and see if you can hit the middle of the bet. If Andreeva wins by exactly seven games (6-3, 6-2 or 6-4, 6-1), you would win both bets and come away with a solid profit. If you had to lean in just one direction, though, trust Andreeva’s recent form and go with minus 6.5.

That being said, betting on Andreeva -6.5 games is a value bet for sure.
