The WTA French Open action begins. The 2026 edition of Roland Garros gets underway, as the second major tournament of the year and the one clay major arrives in Paris. This should be a very interesting women’s tournament, since there is no clear or obvious favorite going in. Iga Swiatek had a solid Rome tournament but lost to Elina Svitolina and is still not the dominant player she once was. Aryna Sabalenka is the top seed but has struggled recently. Coco Gauff is the defending champion but has been involved in a lot of three-set matches in recent weeks. The lack of predictability adds to the excitement around the event. It all starts on Sunday. Parks – Fernandez: Time 5:00 EST

Alycia Parks faces Leylah Fernandez in an intriguing first-round match. Both players are 2-4 in their last six matches, so on a broader level, neither player has a clear advantage in terms of current form. However, Fernandez did make the quarterfinals in Madrid and lost to Mirra Andreeva, who eventually made the final. Fernandez’s most recent match was a loss, but it came to Victoria Mboko in Strasbourg. Fernandez has lost to multiple top-10 players in recent weeks.
Best Bet to Make
Fernandez has been losing to generally better, tougher players than Parks has over the past month. Though each player has struggled in terms of wins and losses, Fernandez has faced superior competition, which means her losses aren’t as bad as Parks’ own defeats. Fernandez should be able to take control of this match and stay in control. She is the better player, and Parks’ form just isn’t good enough to warrant any kind of pro-Parks wager.

Panna Udvardy faced Viktorija Golubic. Udvardy is ranked World No. 68, Golubic 82. Udvardy is priced as the betting market favorite, most likely because she has 15 clay match wins in 2026 compared to just six for Golubic. However, Udvardy’s 15 clay match wins have come in 25 clay matches played this year, meaning her record is 15-10 on clay in 2026. Golubic’s six clay wins this year have come in 10 matches. Her record is 6-4. So, both players have a 60-percent win rate on clay. Udvardy has simply played 15 more clay matches. Maybe that extra match play matters, but it’s going to be tested here.

Marta Kostyuk faces Oksana Selekhmeteva. Kostyuk surprised everyone by winning the WTA Madrid tournament, the biggest title of her career. She then took Rome off to rest for the French Open. Kostyuk is 11-0 on clay this season, having also won in Rouen. She is now a top-20 player in the world rankings and could reasonably make a deep run in Paris. Selekhmeteva is 1-6 in her last seven matches and is hoping to gain some form as she comes to France.
Best Bet to Make
This is a mismatch, so you won’t get much of a price for Kostyuk winning in straight sets. You have to go with the game spread. Minus 6.5 games offers a good chance of winning and a reasonable price. Minus 7.5 games could hit, but the value for minus 6.5 is still very good, so go with that lower number.
