Five Players Withdraw From the 2026 Swiss Open Gstaad

Stan Wawrinka was the most significant name to move onto the entry list. The three-time Major champion took Comesana’s place. He would have received a wild card for his final appearance in front of home support at the Swiss Open Gstaad, but did not need it due to Comesana’s decision not to compete. Wawrinka is still competing at a high level in his final season as a professional despite being 41, giving him a decent chance of finishing at the event with at least one victory.

Jaime Faria benefited from Berrettini’s withdrawal. The young Portuguese player has had good results this year, including reaching the French Open third round as a qualifier. He was one set from the fourth round before Frances Tiafoe launched a dramatic comeback after dropping the opening two sets. Alexander Shevchenko, Quentin Halys, and Alexandre Muller were the other men to be given a spot on the entry list. Shevchenko is particularly talented, and many feel the Kazakhstani could achieve much more if he became consistent.
