Elena Rybakina vs Karolina Muchova

Head-to-head: Muchova 2-1 Rybakina

Rybakina entered WTA Stuttgart as the top seed and will contest her second final in this tournament. Rybakina won her opening match against Diana Shnaider in straight sets, but snatched victory from the jaws of defeat in the quarterfinal. Rybakina saved two match points to beat Leylah Fernandez in a three-hour match. In the semifinal, Rybakina edged Mirra Andreeva 7-5 in a tight opening set before cruising 6-1 in the second set. The victory is Rybakina’s 24th of the season, tying Jessica Pegula for the most wins in 2026 so far.

Karolina Muchova, for her part, is continuing to enjoy an excellent season. The Czech is through to her second final of the season thanks to an impressive week in Stuttgart, where she earned a first career win over Coco Gauff. Her semifinal upset over Elina Svitolina was also her first in the series against the Ukrainian.

Rybakina won the 2024 edition of this tournament and owns four clay-court titles at the WTA level even if this probably isn’t her favourite surface. Muchova is a two-time champion at this level (both on hard courts). She ended a seven-year drought for a trophy at this year’s Qatar Open. Muchova has picked apart tough matchups this week, signifying she’s overcome some of her mental hurdles and is within touching distance of re-entering the world’s top 10. But this will be a different kind of test. Rybakina has a potent first serve and brings cleaner baseline weight. She’s not going to give up many free looks and that will significantly limit Muchova’s variety. Expect Rybakina to lift her second title of the season.
