This year’s BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells promises to be a superb iteration of the tournament. Recent Australian Open champion Carlos Alcaraz, Jannik Sinner, and 24-time Grand Slam winner Novak Djokovic are all on the entry list. Five ATP Players Withdraw From BNP Paribas Open Indian Wells
Which Players Have Withdrawn?
Holger Rune was the first ATP player to withdraw from the BNP Paribas Open. The 2022 Paris Masters champion has not played since sustaining a severe Achilles injury at the 2025 Stockholm Open. Earlier this year, Rune spoke about how his recovery from that problem is complicated. There is still no precise timeline for his return to professional tennis. The Dane was last year’s runner-up in Indian Wells.
Tallon Griekspoor was the second man to withdraw from the BNP Paribas Open. He had a superb run to the Dubai Tennis Championships final, including a semifinal triumph over Andrey Rublev. Sadly, the Dutchman could not compete in the final against Daniil Medvedev because of a left hamstring injury he picked up in the previous match. Griekspoor confirmed it was a serious issue, and he could miss further tournaments.
American player Eliot Spizzirri will miss his home tournament. The 24-year-old last competed at the Dallas Open, where he lost to Jack Pinnington Jones in the Round of 16. Since then, Spizzirri has been sidelined with an elbow injury, which also led to him missing the Delray Beach Open and the Mexican Open.
Jaume Munar was the fourth man to withdraw from the BNP Paribas Open. In an Instagram post on February 17th, the Spaniard announced that he will be out for a while because of a right arm injury. His last appearance on the ATP Tour occurred in the Rotterdam Open quarterfinal, where he lost a close match to Alexander Bublik.
Filip Misolic was the final withdrawal. He had to stop in the second set of his match at the Play In Challenger last month because of a physical problem, and has not recovered in time to play in Indian Wells.
