ATP Metz Day 3 Predictions Including Flavio Cobolli vs Lorenzo Sonego

Six ATP Metz matches are scheduled for Tuesday. The players left in the draw will try to make a final push before the off-season begins. No. 4 seed Flavio Cobolli and recent Rolex Shanghai Masters runner-up Arthur Rinderknech’s matches are predicted. We here at LWOT predict the other action, including Cameron Norrie vs Arthur Cazaux, in a separate article. But who will advance?

ATP Metz Day 3 Predictions

Luca Van Assche vs Kyrian Jacquet

Head-to-head: First meeting

Van Assche has endured a very disappointing 2025. His first Challenger Tour title in over two years in Olbia a few weeks ago was a welcome exception. The Frenchman’s falling out of favor is shown by his having to qualify in Metz instead of getting a wild card. Jacquet also won a Challenger Tour title a few weeks ago. Both men will view this as a significant opportunity to get a win at the ATP 250 level. I narrowly favor Van Assche’s defence to prove the difference in front of a home crowd, but it could go either way.

Prediction: Van Assche in 3

Arthur Rinderknech vs Daniel Altmaier

Head-to-head: First meeting

Rinderknech may feel he deserves a title after losing to his cousin Valentin Vacherot in the Rolex Shanghai Masters final, and then to the same man in Paris last week. This is a challenging opening round draw against an opponent who beat Casper Ruud last week. I think Rinderknech can effectively expose Altmaier’s one-handed backhand in the rallies with his own excellent two-hander. That makes this a challenging matchup for the German.

Prediction: Rinderknech in 2

Flavio Cobolli vs Lorenzo Sonego

Head-to-head: First meeting

Cobolli used to struggle severely on hard courts, but has significantly improved outside the clay. Both Italians prefer playing from the baseline, but Cobolli has the benefit of a massive forehand. Sonego doing everything solidly does not change the reality of this match being on Cobolli’s racket. Although he remains most reliable on clay, I think Cobolli will have enough to beat his compatriot.

Prediction: Cobolli in 2
