US Open Semifinal Prediction: Jannik Sinner vs Felix Auger-Aliassime

The men’s semifinal lineup at the 2025 US Open features World No. 1 and defending champion Jannik Sinner against resurgent Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime. As always, our writers share their thoughts and predictions ahead of the matchup.

Jannik Sinner vs Felix Auger-Aliassime

Jordan:
Auger-Aliassime is playing his best tennis in years, but he will need to find yet another level against the World No. 1. The Canadian’s serve is the one area where he holds a slight edge, and it must be flawless for him to have any chance. Unfortunately, I do not think anyone outside of Carlos Alcaraz can push Sinner on a hard court right now. The Italian should move through comfortably.
Prediction: Sinner in 3

Zain:
Is it a hard court Slam semifinal? Then the question is simply: who is Jannik Sinner playing? Felix Auger-Aliassime has already overachieved in New York, defeating three top-15 seeds with his serve and forehand firing. But he faces a near-impossible task here. Just weeks ago in Cincinnati, Sinner dismantled him, dropping only two games. This one should be more competitive, but it is unlikely the Canadian celebrates even a set win.
Prediction: Sinner in 3

Manan:
This is a rematch of their Cincinnati quarterfinal just last month, where Sinner dominated. Auger-Aliassime, however, has clearly improved, with his win over Alexander Zverev the highlight of his fortnight. He will look to attack Sinner’s serve, which is the only slight vulnerability so far. Still, the Italian’s baseline consistency and heavy groundstrokes have overwhelmed all challengers. Confidence and recent history are firmly on his side. Expect Felix to nick a set, but the World No. 1 should progress.
Prediction: Sinner in 4

Yeah:

Felix Auger-Aliassime looks at his old best (finally), but his best is still a class below what Jannik Sinner brings to the table. Sinner does have weaknesses–especially against players with great variety–but the Canadian doesn’t really match up well with them. I expect the reigning champion to cruise to the final. Prediction: Sinner in 3
