After winning the opening set 7-5, Darderi demolished Tseng in the second set. In the quarterfinals, Prizmic won the opening set 6-1 against Darderi. However, the Italian stayed calm and turned the match around. Yesterday in the semifinals, Darderi saved both breakpoints he offered and defeated Ugo Carabelli in straight sets comfortably. This is his second appearance in Umag. Last season, Darderi lost against Mensik in the second round in straight sets.
