Seven first-round matches will be played on Day 2 of the ATP Generali Open in Kitzbuhel, Austria. It ensures a day packed with exciting tennis for the viewers. This article features former semifinalist Nicolas Jarry, who takes on Botic van de Zandschulp. As always, we at LWOT will predict every match on the slate. But who will advance to the next round?
ATP Kitzbuhel Day 2 Predictions
Arthur Cazaux vs Ignacio Buse
Head-to-Head: Cazaux 1-0 Buse
This should be an exciting encounter between two young players who are both in good form coming into this match. Both players reached the semifinals in Gstaad and will be looking to continue the momentum. Cazaux beat Buse at the Wimbledon qualifiers recently, but Buse is a better player on clay and can make this match extremely close. Cazaux has more firepower while Buse relies on his consistency and court coverage. I am going with the Frenchman, but this match can go either way.
Prediction: Cazaux in 3
Thiago Seyboth Wild vs Justin Engel
Head-to-Head: first meeting
Emerging talent Justin Engel will be looking to bounce back after getting demolished against Dino Prizmic in his last match. Engel has shown great promise already in such a young age and has beaten some good names this season. Thiago Seyboth Wild suffered a disappointing loss in the first round of qualifying in Bastad and will arrive in this match low on confidence. However, the Brazilian is a clay court specialist, and his serve will get a lot of purchase on these faster altitude conditions.
Prediction: Wild in 3
Nicolas Jarry vs Botic van de Zandschulp
Head-to-Head: first meeting
Nicolas Jarry, fresh off a tremendous and much-needed run at Wimbledon, will be eager to build on that momentum and do some damage in Kitzbuhel this week. He is a former semifinalist here and will like the faster conditions on offer. Botic van de Zandschulp, on the other hand, is making his Generali Open debut. Zandschulp has had success in altitude conditions in the past on clay, reaching the final in Munich twice. However, his serve is unreliable and breaking Jarry would be difficult.
Prediction: Jarry in 2
