The third round of the WTA Wimbledon Championships presents some enticing wagering opportunities. The featured match in this article is Elise Mertens vs Elina Svitolina, as the rivalry continues. Here are more of my best bets. Please share your thoughts in the comments if you agree.
WTA Wimbledon Open
Sierra – Busca: Time 12:00
H2H: 0-0
Solana Sierra and Cristina Bucsa have never met before, which is a bit surprising given they’re right next to each other in the world rankings at No. 101 and No. 102, respectively. Bucsa is a seasoned veteran at Wimbledon by now, even if she’s never finished higher than the second round. This is her fifth appearance, whereas it’s the second for Sierra. Bucsa is having an alright year at 19-19 overall, but she hasn’t moved past the round-of-16 in any tournament in 2025. Sierra has three lower-level tournament victories, and her record on the year is 33-12.
Best Bet to Make
Bucsa is the favorite for a reason. Not only is she vastly more experienced than her counterpart when it comes to how to manage yourself and your play at Wimbledon, but she’s also 4-2 in her last six matches. She really began to find her form right before Wimbledon, at least when it comes to early-round matches. Sierra is also 4-2 in her last six, but she’s 7-3 in her last ten, and might not be as weak a link as everyone seems to think. What’s really going to separate Bucsa from Sierra is her experience on grass, and at Wimbledon.
That being said, Bucsa winning is a value bet for sure.

Parry – Kartal: Time 12:00
H2H: 0-2
Diane Parry and Sonay Kartal will meet for the first time when the Frenchwoman and the Brit meet in the third round at the WTA Wimbledon. Kartal has been in a round-of-16 rut this year, as that is the furthest she’s gone in any tournament in 2025. Parry is having an awful year at 13-13 overall, but she’s at least got a lone quarterfinal appearance on the year. Neither woman have ever made it past the third round at Wimbledon, but it was Kartal who did it most recently, as she hit the third round last year while Parry accomplished it in 2022.

Best Bet to Make
The favorite on the books is Kartal, and I do not agree. Parry might not be having a great year in the overall sense, but she’s had a fantastic year on grass at 7-2. Kartal is 4-3 and has yet to win more than one match in a tournament since March. Perhaps some people see Kartal as the better overall player, but right now, she’s absolutely lost, and Parry’s saving grace on the year seems to be grass play. If you still need a bit more convincing, that quarterfinal appearance by Parry was June 13th.
That being said, Parry winning is a value bet for sure.

Mertens – Svitolina: Time 11:00
H2H: 3-5
Saying that Elise Mertens have Elina Svitolina have a robust rivalry would probably be an understatement. Their upcoming match will be their third meeting at Major and their ninth overall. They previously met at the 2023 Wimbledon and the 2018 Australian Open. Their last meeting was last week at Bad Homburg, which Svitolina won in straight sets. If you remove Svitolina, then Mertens’ last loss would have been May 27th, but both are 7-3 in their last ten matches.
Best Bet to Make
Elina Svitolina is playing as well as anyone in the world right now. Svitolina’s loss to Beatriz Haddad Maia at Bad Homburg was the first time WTA Miami that Svitolina didn’t make at least a quarterfinal. In fact, she’s made at least the quarterfinals in half of her tournament appearances at 6-6. While Mertens is also playing really well at the moment, she hasn’t enjoyed the same broad success this year. Additionally, it seems as though Svitolina has Mertens’ number when it comes to tennis at 5-3 overall in their rivalry.
That being said, Svitolina winning is a value bet for sure.
