Four Players Receive Porsche Tennis Grand Prix Wild Cards

Clay-court tennis on the WTA Tour returns to Europe for one of the most stacked events of the year. The Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart boasts one of the strongest fields for a WTA 500 event with six of the world’s Top 10 players featuring in its entry list.

Defending champion Elena Rybakina has withdrawn from the tournament but two former champions are in the draw. Iga Swiatek has won two of the last three editions and saw her 10-match undefeated streak come to a screeching halt last year when she lost to Rybakina. The other former winner is one of four wild card entrants. Main draw action will commence on April 14th inside Porsche Arena.

Four Players Receive Porsche Tennis Grand Prix Wild Cards

The first wild card is Laura Siegemund. She has reached two finals in Stuttgart, memorably winning the title in 2017 beating the formidable trio of Svetlana Kuznetsova, Karolina Pliskova, and Simona Halep en route. This will be her eighth participation in her home tournament.

The second wild card is also another veteran. Tatjana Maria has featured in five previous main draws in Stuttgart but owns just one match win (2023). At 37, this could be her last opportunity to add to her tally in the event.

The third wild card spot has gone to Jule Niemeier. The 25-year-old has posted just two main draw wins since the start of the 2025 season. Niemeier was beaten in the first round in each of her two previous appearances in Stuttgart. However, she compiled a 12-8 record on clay last season.

Completing this all-German list is Eva Lys. She will play at the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix for a second time. Her first was in 2022 when she successfully qualified and reached the last 16 (lost to Swiatek).  Lys will enter this year’s tournament with a career-high ranking of No. 68 after an eye-catching run at this year’s Australian Open (reached the second week as a lucky loser).
