ATP Marrakech Day 2 Predictions
Pablo Carreno Busta vs Younes Lalami Laaroussi
Head-to-head: first meeting
Pablo Carreno Busta may still be working his way back from injury, but his recent form suggests he is quickly regaining his level, having won back-to-back clay-court Challenger titles in Tenerife. A seasoned clay-court specialist, he should feel confident heading into Marrakech, where his steady baseline game will be difficult to break down. Younes Lalami Laaroussi, a local wild card, will have the home crowd’s support but lacks the experience and firepower to consistently trouble a player of Carreno Busta’s calibre. Given the Spaniard’s recent momentum, he should advance comfortably in straight sets.
Prediction: Carreno Busta in 2

Federico Coria vs Pierre-Hugues Herbert
Head-to-head: Herbert 1-0 Coria
Federico Coria, a proven clay-court specialist, comes into this match as the clear favorite, given his consistency and experience on the surface. Pierre-Hugues Herbert, while a skilled all-court player, has struggled in singles in recent years and lacks the baseline solidity needed to trouble Coria on clay. Unless Herbert can disrupt the Argentine’s rhythm with aggressive net play, he is likely to be worn down in extended rallies. Coria’s superior movement and shot tolerance should see him through.
Prediction: Coria in 3

Juan Manuel Cerundolo vs Hugo Gaston
Head-to-head: Gaston 1-0 Cerundolo
Juan Manuel Cerundolo and Hugo Gaston both thrive on clay, setting up an intriguing first-round battle between two crafty, baseline-oriented players. Cerúndolo’s lefty forehand and heavy topspin can be particularly effective on the surface, but his form has been inconsistent in recent months. Gaston, known for his flair and drop-shot mastery, can disrupt rhythm, but his results have also been up and down. If Cerundolo finds his range and dictates with his forehand, he has the edge, but Gaston’s unpredictability could turn this into a tight three-setter.
Prediction: Cerundolo in 3
