Grand Prix Hassan II Marrakech: Six Players Withdraw From Event

The 2025 Grand Prix Hassan II in Marrakech is one of three ATP tournaments to kick off the clay court swing. Tallon Griekspoor and Lorenzo Sonego are two of the players on the entry list in Morocco. However, the event has also been weakened by the withdrawals of six players, including the man who was set to be the No. 1 seed.

Six Players Withdraw From Grand Prix Hassan II Marrakech

Which Players Have Withdrawn?

Lorenzo Musetti was the most significant name to withdraw from the Grand Prix Hassan II. That decision was not made because of any physical issues. Musetti and his team have opted for additional rest and recovery time before the Monte-Carlo Masters. He reached the round of 16 at the Miami Open, losing comprehensively to Novak Djokovic.

Zizou Bergs was the second player to withdraw from the Grand Prix Hassan II. He had a solid run to the round of 32 at the Miami Open that included a victory against Andrey Rublev. The Belgian does not appear to be carrying any injury and probably wants some time off after the North American hard-court swing.

Quentin Halys also withdrew from the tournament in Morocco. He had an epic battle against Musetti in the round of 64 in Miami, ultimately losing 5-7 in the deciding set. The clay court swing is important for the Frenchman, and he might want to prioritize being in ideal shape for the Monte-Carlo Masters and then the French Open.

Artur Rinderknech, Jaime Faria, and Francesco Passaro were the other players who decided to remove themselves from the entry list.

Who Replaces Those Players on the Entry List?

Borna Gojo benefits from Musetti’s decision to withdraw from the Grand Prix Hassan II. The Croatian is inconsistent, but he can be very dangerous when his game is firing on all cylinders. He has a chance to show that level at the tournament in Marrakech.

Jesper de Jong replaces Bergs at the Grand Prix Hassan II. The Dutchman usually plays his best tennis on clay and reached the final of a Challenger Tour event in Murcia a few weeks ago. He could be tricky to face if his gritty defensive skills are working on his favorite surface.

Vit Kopriva is Halys’ replacement, and he might be someone other players hope to avoid. The Czech enters the event with confidence after winning a Challenger tournament in Naples, winning a thrilling final against Luciano Darderi. That level could see him have a good run in Marrakech.

Fabio Fognini and former US Opensemifinalist Pablo Carreno Busta, both ATP veterans, are also now on the entry list, alongside Otto Virtanen.
