ATP Marseille Day 3 Predictions
Pierre-Hugues Herbert vs Harold Mayot
Head-to-head: first meeting
2021 finalist, Pierre-Hugues Herbert is making his sixth main draw appearance in Marseille. Herbert has been in good form on indoor hard courts at the Challenger Tour which helped him qualify for the main draw here. Tour-level wins have been a rare sight for the Frenchman in the last three years but this is a great opportunity for him to get another win on his home soil.
Harold Mayot has not won a tour-level match since July last year. Mayot’s serve is also not as potent as Herbert’s which is a key shot on fast indoor courts. However, he has a more consistent game from the baseline. I am not too confident about either player but edging towards Herbert due to his recent indoor form.
Prediction: Herbert in 3

Daniel Altmaier vs Otto Virtanen
Head-to-head: first meeting
Otto Virtanen achieved the biggest win of his career, upsetting Sebastian Korda in the first round. Virtanen came back from trailing a set and played some of his best tennis in tight situations. He served 19 aces and saved six crucial break points. These quick courts seem to suit Virtanen’s game the most, and he can be dangerous for anyone this week. Daniel Altmaier continued his great indoor form, easily defeating Luca Nardi in the first round. Virtanen has more firepower but I can’t overlook Altmaier’s consistency and superior form.
Prediction: Altmaier in 3

Ugo Humbert vs Alexander Bublik
Head-to-head: Humbert 1-0 Bublik
Defending champion, Ugo Humbert will start his campaign against Alexander Bublik, who won only his second match of the season. Bublik was playing some of his best tennis at this time last year but hasn’t looked as invested so far this season. Humbert defeated Bublik in the final of Dubai last year and perhaps that would be motivation enough for the Kazakh player to show up for this match. However, even his best level might not be enough against Humbert, who has never lost before the semifinals here.
Prediction: Humbert in 2
