WTA Doha Day 2 Predictions
Sofia Kenin vs Ashlyn Krueger
Head-to-head: Krueger 1-0 Kenin
Ashlyn Krueger enters this match after a superb run to the final in Abu Dhabi. She fell apart somewhat in the final two sets against Belinda Bencic, but the Swiss’ excellent level was part of that. Sofia Kenin has been an impossible player to rely on during the last few years. At its best, her game is well-suited to defusing Krueger’s powerful hitting, but she does not produce it consistently enough for her to be backed against Krueger.
Prediction: Krueger in 2

Ons Jabeur vs McCartney Kessler
Head-to-head: first meeting
Ons Jabeur’s level in Abu Dhabi was among her best since finishing as the runner-up at Wimbledon in 2023. Although she lost her quarterfinal to Elena Rybakina in a deciding set tiebreak, her performances at the tournament were excellent. McCartney Kessler has burst onto the scene since unexpectedly winning the title in Cleveland. However, Jabeur’s variety is well-suited to beating her if she keeps performing well.
Prediction: Jabeur in 2

Emma Navarro vs Leylah Fernandez
Head-to-head: Fernandez 2-1 Navarro
There will undoubtedly be plenty of brutal rallies in this matchup. Despite being an excellent athlete, Fernandez likes to play aggressively from the baseline. She needs to execute that style perfectly to beat Navarro, one of the best movers and defenders in the women’s game. Their previous matches were before 2024 when Navarro had her breakthrough. Fernandez is a clean hitter but probably does not possess the overwhelming force needed to hit through the American when she is near her best.
Prediction: Navarro in 3
