ATP 500 Dallas 1/16-Finals
Nishikori – Machac: 04.02.2025 Time TBA
H2H: first meeting
Kei Nishikori has lost three of his last five matches. Two weeks ago in Melbourne, he lost against Tommy Paul in the second round of the Australian Open. Last week, Nishikori helped Japan win against Great Britain in the Davis Cup, as we predicted. In his previous match, Kei dominated against Harris in straight sets. It is his second appearance in Dallas. Kei mostly played in Rotterdam at this time of the season. He last played in Dallas in 2018 when he reached the semifinals.
Tomas Machac has won three of his last five matches. Two weeks ago, at the Australian Open, he lost against Djokovic in straight sets. Last week, he helped the Czech Republic win against Korea in the Davis Cup. In his last match, he won against Kwon in straight sets. It is his first appearance in Dallas.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Machac is the slight favorite in this matchup, and we agree. Kei is coming back to his best form, but he still struggles physically on the court, as we saw in the Australian Open. On the other hand, if Machac continues playing well, he will soon become a top-20 player. We believe that Tomas is a better player at this moment.
That being said, Machac winning is a value bet.

Giron – Ruud: 04.02.2025 Time TBA
H2H: 1-2
Marcos Giron has won three of his last five matches. Two weeks ago at the Australian Open, Giron lost in the third round against Sinner in straight sets. So far this season, Giron has not had any remarkable results. Last week in the Davis Cup, Giron helped the USA win against Taiwan. It is his fifth appearance in Dallas. Last year, Marcos finished as a runner-up. He lost in the final against Tommy Paul in three tight sets. Marcos loves to play on indoor courts, where he has had the most significant results.
Casper Ruud has won four of his last five matches. Two weeks ago in Melbourne, he lost in the second round against Mensik in four sets. Last week, Casper gave his best for Norway against Argentina in the Davis Cup. He won both singles matches in straight sets, but Norway still lost against Argentina, as we predicted. It is his first appearance in Dallas. Casper has never had any success on indoor hard courts.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Giron is the underdog in this matchup, but we disagree. Marcos tends to play well in Dallas. Fast indoor courts are his favorite surface. On the other hand, Casper never had any success under these conditions. We expect Giron to win this match, considering his playing style and the surface they are playing on.
That being said, Giron winning is a value bet.
