Fernandez’s athleticism can cause Vekic problems, but the Croatian’s firepower in moderately fast conditions makes her a slight favorite.

Felix Auger-Aliassime vs Borna Coric
Head-to-head: Coric 2-1 Auger Aliassime
The head-to-head proves that Coric can cause Auger-Aliassime issues. However, their last meeting was over two years ago during Coric’s stunning run to the Cincinnati Open title. The Croatian has not been close to that level since because of form and fitness issues. Auger-Aliassime could be desperate for a strong start to the season after a mixed last couple of years. This contest might come down to fine margins, but the Canadian’s superior serve may prove the difference in Perth.

Head-to-head: First meeting
Dodig has the most accomplished doubles CV of these players but is a few days from turning 40. Fernandez is the most experienced Canadian doubles player, having previously reached the French Open women’s doubles final. Although Auger Aliassime does not play much doubles, he has shown his ability in the format during Davis Cup matches. Vekic is the least naturally suited to doubles on the court, which might decide the match. It promises to be a tight battle, though.
