ATP Finals Final Prediction

Jannik Sinner vs Taylor Fritz

Head-to-head: Sinner 3-1 Fritz

Sinner has undoubtedly been the best player at the ATP Finals so far. He did not drop a set in victories against Alex de Minaur, Fritz, and Daniil Medvedev in the round-robin stage before crushing Casper Ruud 6-1, 6-2 in the final. Fritz had to work harder to reach the final. After finishing second behind Sinner to qualify for the semifinal, he won a thrilling semifinal against Alexander Zverev 6-3, 3-6, 7-6.

The Italian won their previous meetings in 2024 at the US Open and ATP Finals in straight sets without many problems. Is there anything Fritz can do to stop the world No. 1? Serving at his best is essential. The American served decently in the round-robin match, but that was not enough to stop Sinner from breaking twice. Guaranteeing himself a tiebreak in each set by not giving Sinner any opportunities to break is his best method to success.

Fritz’s lack of variation makes this matchup particularly challenging for him. Sinner is one of the few players he cannot dominate from the baseline. Although Fritz’s volleying has improved somewhat, it is not good enough to consistently use as a tactic. The world No. 1’s superior athleticism and consistency means it is unlikely Fritz can hit himself out of trouble.

Sinner did freeze slightly in front of his home fans last year against Novak Djokovic, but the two Grand Slams he has won since should prevent that from happening again. The courts in Turin are medium-speed and will likely give Sinner enough time to create chances. It would be surprising if the Italian does not add winning the ATP Finals to his accomplishments this season.

Prediction: Sinner in 2
