Nitto ATP Finals Turin Doubles Group A
Arevalo/Pavic – Bopanna/Ebden: 13.11.2024 11:30 CEST
H2H: 1-0
Arevalo and Pavic have lost five straight matches. Their last win was over two months ago in New York, where they won their quarterfinal US Open match against Skupski and Venus in straight sets. Since then, Marcelo and Mate have played three indoor hard-court tournaments, and lost in the opening round each time. In their last tournament before the ATP Finals, Pavic and Arevalo lost their opening match in Paris against Doumbia and Reboul in two tiebreaks. It was a tough match with both doubles pairs serving well throughout the whole match. Pavic and Arevalo were lacking confidence at that moment, as they were struggling at the most important points of the match. Here in Turin, Pavic and Arevalo lost their opening match yesterday against Krawietz and Puetz in straight sets. They were once again terrible under pressure, crumbling when it was most important. Their last big result was in Cincinnati, where they won the title, winning against McDonald/Michelsen in the final. Earlier this season, Marcelo and Mate lifted their biggest title. They ended up winning the French Open, winning against Bolleli and Vavassori in the final.
Bopanna and Ebden have lost three of their last five matches. Two weeks ago in Paris, Bopanna and Ebden reached the quarterfinals, where they lost against Koolhof and Mektic in straight sets. It was a very tight match where Rohan and Matthew underperformed in their return game, which was the main reason why they lost this match. Here in Turin, Bopanna and Ebden lost their opening match against Bolelli and Vavassori in straight sets. They were struggling from the very start of the match, and just could not find any rhythm. Their last big result was reaching the semifinals at the French Open, where they lost against Bolelli and Vavassori in three tight sets. Ebden and Bopanna started off this season very well. They reached the final in Adelaide at the beginning of the season, and shortly after that lifted the title in Australia. In the Australian Open final, Bopanna and Ebden defeated Bolelli and Vavassori in easy straight sets. They were just unplayable in those two weeks and deservedly won the title. Both of them are very experienced, and are looking to step up their form in the last tournament of the season. Last year in Turin, Matthew and Rohan successfully made it past group B, finishing second in the group. They fell short in the semifinals against Granollers and Zeballos in straight sets. Matthew and Rohan play aggressive tennis, so we expect them to do well this week.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Bopanna and Ebden are the slight underdogs in this matchup, and we do not agree with that. Pavic and Arevalo are in terrible form right now, and they struggled in their opening match as well. We believe that Bopanna and Ebden will be better doubles partners tomorrow on the court and win this match.
That being said, Bopanna and Ebden winning is a value bet.
