ATP Masters 1000 Paris 1/16-Finals
Ruud- Thompson: 29.10.2024 20:30 CEST
H2H: 3-4
Casper Ruud has lost four of his last five matches. Last week in Basel, Casper lost his opening match against Bautista-Agut in three tight sets. This is the least favorite part of the season for the Norwegian, who never had any success on the indoor courts. Casper is just struggling to keep up with the pace of the surface. Last year in Paris, Ruud lost his opening match against Cerundolo in straight sets.
Jordan Thompson has lost three of his last five matches. Two weeks ago in Shanghai, Jordan lost his opening match against Griekspoor in straight sets. Here in Paris, Jordan had a favorable first-round draw. Thompson won his opening match against Pablo Martinez in straight sets. Jordan offered three breakpoints and saved all of them. The Australian is having one of his best seasons. Last year in Paris, Jordan lost his opening match against Nishioka in three tight sets.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, this should be a 50-50 match. Ruud is currently struggling with his form and tends to underperform on indoor courts such as this one. On the other hand, Thompson loves to play on the fast indoor courts, so we expect him to win this match.
That being said, Thompson winning is a value bet.

Jarry- Alcaraz: 29.10.2024 19:00 CEST
H2H: 1-2
Nicolas Jarry has lost three of his last five matches. Last week in Basel, Jarry lost his opening match against Rune in straight sets. Here in Paris, Nicolas won his opening match against Sonego in straight sets. Jarry offered and saved six breakpoints. He was overall great under pressure, winning the most important points of the match. Two months ago, Jarry was in terrible form and had a seven-match losing streak. Last year in Paris, Nicolas reached the second round, where he was stopped by Bublik in straight sets.
Carlos Alcaraz has won three of his last five matches. His last match was in the exhibition tournament in Saudi Arabia, where he lost against Jannik Sinner in three tight sets. His last competitive match was in Shanghai, where he reached the quarterfinals, when he was upset by Machac in straight sets. This will be his first indoor tournament of the season. Alcaraz never had any success here in Paris. Last year. Carlos was upset by Safiullin in the opening round in straight sets.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Alcaraz is the big favorite in this matchup. As we previously mentioned, Carlos underperformed every time here in Paris. Nicolas is a heavy hitter and has a decent serve, so we believe that he will win a lot of freepoints off of his serve. We expect him to keep this match tight.
That being said, Jarry covering the games handicap is a value bet.
