ATP Basel Best Bets Including Tsitsipas vs Cerundolo

Stefanos Tsitsipas in action ahead of the ATP Antwerp Open.

ATP 500 Basel 1/16-Finals

Jarry – Rune: 22.10.2024 18:00 CEST
H2H: first meeting

Nicolas Jarry has lost four of his last five matches. Last week in Stockholm, Jarry lost his 1/8-Final match against Kecmanovic in three tight sets as we predicted. During the European clay season earlier this year, Nicolas had health issues. Ever since then, Nicolas has been struggling with his form. Even though his game should fit this surface, Jarry never had any success on the indoor hard courts. Last year in Basel, Jarry reached the second round, where he lost against Humbert in three tight sets.

Holger Rune has lost three of his last five matches. His last match was at the exhibition tournament in Saudi Arabia, where he lost against Alcaraz in straight sets. His last competitive match was in Shanghai, where he was stopped by Fritz in the 1/8-Finals. Rune is looking for a solid result this week, to get closer to the top 10 in the rankings. Last year in Basel, Rune reached the semifinals, where he lost against Auger-Aliassime in straight sets.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Rune is the big favorite in this matchup. Both players are out of form at the moment. However, Holger loves to play on the fast indoor courts such as this one. He also had decent success last year in Basel, so we believe that he will be a better player on the court, and win this match easily.

That being said, Rune winning in straight sets is a value bet.

Value bet/ the best odds: Holger Rune winning 2-0 @1.73 @bet365

Tsitsipas – Cerundolo: 22.10.2024 19:30 CEST
H2H: first meeting

Stefanos Tsitsipas has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Antwerp, Tsitsipas reached the quarterfinals, when he lost against Lehecka in straight sets. The former world number 3 has been struggling with his form for a while now, and is currently far away from his best form. So far this season, Tsitsipas has not had any remarkable results on the hard courts, which led to him being outside the top 10 in the rankings. Last year around this time, Tsitsipas played in Vienna, where he reached the semifinals, losing against Medvedev in straight sets.

Francisco Cerundolo has lost three of his last five matches. Last week in Almaty, Cerundolo reached the semifinals, where he lost against Diallo in straight sets. The Argentine has also been struggling this season. His biggest result was winning the title in Umag on clay. On the hard courts, Francisco had no success this season. Last year around this time, Cerundolo played in Vienna, where he lost his opening match against Sonego in three tight sets.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Tsitsipas is the slight favorite in this matchup. Both players have struggled on this surface in their careers so far. We expect a very tight match, that could go either way.

That being said, Cerundolo covering the games handicap is a value bet.

Value bet/ the best odds: Francisco Cerundolo +2.5 games handicap @2.10 @bet365
