ATP Stockholm Paul vs Dimitrov Best Bet

Grigor Dimitrov in action ahead of the ATP Stockholm Open.

ATP 250 Stockholm final

Paul – Dimitrov: 20.10.2024 Time TBA
H2H: 1-1

Tommy Paul has won four of his last five matches. Last week in Shanghai, Tommy lost in the 1/8-Finals against Machac as we predicted. It was a tight match, but Machac played his best tennis, and looked unstoppable in that match. Here in Stockholm, Paul won his opening match against Djere in straight sets. Paul was 5-6 down in the second set, but broke Laslo´s serve right away and closed out the match in the tiebreak. In the quarterfinals, Tommy faced another Serbian. Paul defeated Kecmanovic in straight sets. Tommy won the most important points of the match, and deservedly won in straight sets. Today, in the semifinals, Paul won against Wawrinka in straight sets yet again. He offered and saved three breakpoints. The American ended the match with 28 winners and 16 unforced errors. He is yet to lose a set in the tournament. Stan had no chance against Paul, who played aggressively. Tommy is fighting for a spot in the ATP Finals, so he needs a strong finish in the upcoming tournaments. During his debut main draw campaign in 2021, Tommy claimed his maiden ATP title in Stockholm. Last year around this time, Tommy played in Vienna, where he lost in the 1/8-Finals against Gojo in straight sets.

Grigor Dimitrov has won four of his last five matches. Two weeks ago in Shanghai, Grigor reached the 1/8-Finals, where he lost against Mensik in three tight sets. Here in Stockholm, Dimitrov won his opening match against Halys in straight sets. Grigor lost his serve at the beginning of the match, but kept his composure and turned the match around. He played aggressively throughout the whole match, and ended the match with 34 winners and 25 unforced errors. In the quarterfinals, Grigor won against Stricker in straight sets once again. This time, Grigor saved all seven breakpoints, and performed well under pressure. His serving performance was once again on point. Today, in the semifinals, Dimitrov defeated Griekspoor in three tight sets. After losing the first set 2-6, Dimitrov stepped up his level, and turned the match around. He was a way better player in the second and third sets. The Bulgarian is fighting for a spot in the ATP Tour finals. This will be his fourth final here in Stockholm. The former world number three won the title here in 2013. However, after that, Dimitrov lost his final match in 2014, as well as in 2017.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Paul is the slight favorite in this matchup, and we can not agree with that. Grigor loves to play here in Stockholm. He is also a great indoor player. We believe that he will have a decent chance against Tommy Paul. Tommy usually fumbles under pressure, so we believe that Grigor´s experience will prevail in this matchup.

That being said, Dimitrov winning is a value bet.
