ATP 250 Almaty quarterfinals

Diallo – Tabilo: 18.10.2024 08:00 CEST
H2H: first meeting

Gabriel Diallo has won four of his last five matches. Last week in Hangzhou, Gabriel reached the semifinals of the challenger tournament, where he lost against McDonald in straight sets. Here in Almaty, Diallo won his opening match against O´Connell in straight sets. After that, in the 1/8-Finals, Gabriel defeated Coric in straight sets once again. For the last couple of months, Diallo had some solid results at the challenger tour level. This will be his first-ever quarterfinal at the highest level.

Alejandro Tabilo has lost three of his last five matches. Last week in Shanghai, Tabilo reached the second round, where he was stopped by Paul in three tight sets. Tabilo played solid tennis, but could not convert four match points in the second set. Here in Almaty, Tabilo won his opening match against Marterer in straight sets as we predicted. Last year around this time, Alejandro was injured. He skipped the indoor season in Europe. He is looking for a solid result this week, to get back into the top 20 in the rankings, where he belongs.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, this should be a 50-50 match. Tabilo is a way more experienced player at this level. We believe that his experience will prevail, and that he will win this match easily tomorrow.

That being said, Tabilo winning is a value bet.

Khachanov – Zhukayev: 18.10.2024 16:00 CEST
H2H: 1-0

Karen Khachanov has won three of his last five matches. Two weeks ago in Shanghai, Khachanov lost his opening match against Giron in straight sets. Here in Almaty, Khachanov won his opening match against Virtanen in tight straight sets as we predicted. Khachanov has been struggling with his form for the last couple of months. With his recent poor performances, Khachanov is no longer a top 20 player. Last year around this time, Khachanov played in Vienna, where he reached the quarterfinals, losing against Medvedev in three tight sets.

Beibit Zhukayev has won four of his last five matches. Two weeks ago in Shanghai, Zhukayev lost his opening match against Safiullin in straight sets. Here in Almaty, Zhukayev won his opening match against Hassan in straight sets. After that in the 1/8-Finals, Machac retired mid-match against him. Beibit was granted a wild card here in Almaty, and he is making most of it. This is his biggest result at this level.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Khachanov is the big favorite in this matchup. Khachanov played a solid match against Virtanen in the opening round. We believe that his tennis will get better match after match, and that he will eventually make a deep run this week. Khachanov enjoys playing under these conditions, and we believe that his skill and experience will prevail in this match.

That being said, Khachanov winning in straight sets is a value bet.
