Today in the semifinals, Jannik defeated Machac in tight straight sets as we predicted. This has been the most successful season for the young Italian, who became just the fourth player to win two hardcourt Grand Slams in a single season. Last year in Shanghai, Sinner reached the third round, where he was upset by Shelton.
Novak Djokovic has won six straight matches. After losing against Popyrin in the third round of the US Open, Novak took some time off to enjoy his life. Novak mentioned that he has won everything, and is now looking to only participating in the biggest tournaments such as this one. Here in Shanghai, Novak defeated Michelsen in straight tight sets as we predicted. Novak was 1-4 behind in the first set, but managed to turn the set around. In the second set, Djokovic was 4-1 up, but could not keep the lead. Nole even had to save two set points in the tiebreak, to win the match. After that, in the third round, Novak demolished Cobolli in straight sets. Novak served well, not offering any breakpoints. Flavio was terrible in that match. He ended the match with 8 winners and 26 unforced errors. In the 1/8-Finals, Novak defeated Safiullin in easy straight sets. It was another brilliant performance from the Serbian. Djokovic scored and saved three breakpoints. In the quarterfinals, Novak won against Mensik in three tight sets. Today, in the semifinals, Novak defeated Fritz in tight straight sets. After losing the first set in the tiebreak, Novak stepped up his level and turned the match around. Djokovic is yet to win an ATP title this year. Novak is a four-time champion here in Shanghai.

According to the bookies, Sinner is the slight favorite in this matchup. We believe that he is in a way better form than Djokovic, and that he will dominate from the very start. Djokovic has not played many matches this season, and we believe that Sinner will have the upper hand in this matchup.
