ATP Shanghai Sinner vs Machac Best Bet

Jannik Sinner in action ahead of the ATP Shanghai Masters.

ATP Masters 1000 Shanghai semifinals

Sinner – Machac: 12.10.2024 Time TBA
H2H: 1-0

Jannik Sinner has won four of his last five matches. Last week in Beijing, Jannik reached the final, where he lost against Alcaraz in three tight sets as we predicted. Here in Shanghai, Sinner dominated in his opening match against Daniel as we predicted. Taro had no chance against Jannik, who is in his best form right now. After that, in the third round, Jannik defeated Etcheverry in three sets. Etcheverry won the first set after winning a tight tiebreak. However, Jannik reduced his unforced errors, and stepped up his game. In the 1/8-Finals, Jannik defeated Shelton in straight tight sets as predicted. Sinner was great under pressure, saving all seven breakpoints. He converted the only breakpoint Shelton had offered. In the second set, Sinner won the most important points of the match, and won the match in straight sets. In the quarterfinals, Jannik demolished Medvedev as we predicted. Sinner was a better player from the very start, and Daniil could not get hold of him. Sinner offered only one breakpoint, and saved it as well. This has been the most successful season for the young Italian, who became just the fourth player to win two hardcourt Grand Slams in a single season. Last year in Shanghai, Sinner reached the third round, where he was upset by Shelton.

Tomas Machac has won four of his last five matches. Last week in Tokyo, Machac lost against Humbert in three tight sets as we predicted. Here in Shanghai, Machac won his opening match against Davidovich Fokina in three tight sets. After losing the first set 1-6, Machac stepped up his level, and turned the match around. He was even 1-3 down in the second set, but stayed calm, and managed to win the match. In the third round of the tournament, Tomas defeated Vukic in easy straight sets. Tomas was great under pressure, saving all four breakpoints. In the 1/8-Finals, Machac upset Tommy Paul in three sets as we predicted. Paul was surprised how well Machac had played. Once again, Machac lost the first set, but turned the match around. Yesterday in the quarterfinals, Machac had the biggest win of his career, upsetting Alcaraz in straight sets. Tomas played an unbelievable match, and if he could maintain that level, Machac would become a new top 10 player soon enough. Both players held their serves in the first set, and Tomas dominated in the tiebreak. At the beginning of the second set, both players lost their serve. However, at 5-5, Machac broke Alcaraz´s serve once again, and closed out the match.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Sinner is the big favorite in this matchup. Both players are in great form, and we expect a high-quality match. In their last head-to-head meeting, which was in March under similar conditions, Jannik defeated Machac in straight sets. However, Machac was far away from his current level. We believe that if Thomas can repeat his quarterfinal performance, he could have a chance against Jannik tomorrow. We believe that he will be fully confident coming into this match, and keep this match tight.

That being said, Machac covering the games handicap is a value bet.
