Frances is looking for a solid result this week, to cement his top 20 status.
Yi Zhou has lost three of his last five matches. Last week in Beijing, Zhou lost his opening match against Kotov in three sets. He was granted a wild card here in Shanghai. In the first round, Zhou was trailing 2-4 in the first set against Nishioka. Unfortunately, Nishioka retired with a back injury. Yi is only 19 years old, and he has huge potential as well. Yi had his biggest results at the ITF level. He is slowly transitioning to the challenger tour level. Zhou spent most of this season playing at the ITF level in Asia. Those tournaments were important for him to prepare for his upcoming matches at the highest level.

According to the bookies, Tiafoe is the big favorite in this matchup. We believe that he is a way better player than Zhou at that moment. Even though his form has not been brilliant, we still believe that Tiafoe will get the job done easily.

Stefanos Tsitsipas has lost three of his last five matches. Last week in Tokyo, Stefanos lost in the first round, where he was upset by Michelsen in three sets as we predicted. Here in Shanghai, Stefanos defeated Nishikori in his opening match in straight sets. Tsitsipas has been struggling with his form this season, which led to him being outside the top 10. Last year in Shanghai, Stefanos reached the third round, where he lost against Humbert in three tight sets.
Alexandre Muller has lost three of his last five matches. Last week in Tokio, Muller failed to qualify for the main-draw tournament. Here in Shanghai, Muller won his opening match against Nardi in three sets. After losing the first set 4-6, Muller stepped up his level, and turned the match around. In the second round, Muller upset Auger-Aliassime in straight sets.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Stefanos is the favorite in this matchup. Even though Tsitsipas has been struggling with his form lately, we still believe that he will be a better player on the court, and dominate from the very start. Muller has not had any remarkable results this season, and we think that he will not be able to overcome Stefanos in the third round tomorrow.
That being said, Tsitsipas covering the games handicap is a value bet.
