ATP Shanghai Best Bets Including Djokovic vs Michelsen

Novak Djokovic Olympic Tennis

ATP Masters 1000 Shanghai 1/32-Finals

Cobolli – Wawrinka: 05.10.2024 Time TBA
H2H: first meeting

Flavio Cobolli has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Beijing, Cobolli reached the quarterfinals, where he lost against Medvedev in straight sets as we predicted. Cobolli had his biggest results at the beginning of the season, which made him a top 30 player. This will be his first Asian swing. Playing in the previous years at the challenger tour level, Cobolli skipped the Asian swing, so he does not have any points to defend here.

Stanislas Wawrinka has lost three of his last five matches. Last week in Beijing, Stan lost against Safiullin in the opening round in straight sets. Here in Shanghai, Stanislas defeated Mpetshi Perricard in two tight tiebreaks. Both players served well, and no one lost their serve. Unfortunately for him, Wawrinka is struggling with his fitness and on-court movement, which is normal, considering his age. Last year in Shanghai, Stanislas lost his opening round match against Dusan Lajovic in straight sets.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Cobolli is the slight favorite in this matchup, and we agree with that. Stanislas is far away from his best level, and he barely gets consecutive wins. On the other hand, Cobolli is playing his best tennis, so we believe that he will have the upper hand in this matchup.

That being said, Cobolli winning in straight sets is a value bet.

Value bet/ the best odds: Flavio Cobolli winning 2-0 @2.25 @bet365

Michelsen – Djokovic: 05.10.2024 Time TBA
H2H: first meeting

Alex Michelsen has won four of his last five matches. Last week in Tokyo, Michelsen reached the quarterfinals, when he was defeated by Machac in straight sets. Here in Shanghai, Michelsen won his opening match against Bu in straight sets. By is in great form, but Michelsen performed well, and won easily. This has been the best season for the young American, who is looking to cement his top 50 status.

Novak Djokovic has won four of his last five matches. After losing against Popyrin in the third round of the US Open, Novak took some time off to enjoy his life. Novak mentioned that he has won everything, and is now looking to only participating in the biggest tournaments such as this one. The last match he played was a couple of weeks ago in the Davis Cup, where he helped Serbia get their win against Greece.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Djokovic is the big favorite in this matchup. Novak will probably be rusty on the court tomorrow. On the other hand, Michelsen has played great tennis for the last couple of weeks, so we expect him to be fully confident tomorrow, and keep this match tight.

That being said, Michelsen covering the games handicap is a value bet.

Value bet/ the best odds: Alex Michelsen +4.5 games handicap @2.20 @bet365
