ATP Shanghai Best Bets Including Goffin vs Duckworth

James Duckworth, who won his 13th Challenger title last week, in action.

ATP Masters 1000 Shanghai 1/64-Finals

Goffin – Duckworth: 03.10.2024 06:30 CEST
H2H: 0-1

David Goffin has won three of his last five matches. The last match he played was at the US Open, where he lost against Machac in the third round of the tournament as we predicted. Since then, David has taken some time off to rest and prepare for the upcoming Asian swing. So far this season, Goffin has not had any remarkable results. He spent a lot of time playing at the challenger tour level.

James Duckworth has lost four of his last five matches. The last match he played was at the US Open, where he lost against Cobolli in four tight sets. Since then, James has not played any competitive matches, and decided to rest for this part of the season. His last win was almost two months ago in Montreal, where he defeated Giron in straight sets. Duckworth is looking for a solid result here in Shanghai to cement his top 100 status. James had his biggest results on the fast courts such as this one.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Goffin is the slight favorite in this matchup. We believe that Duckworth will have a decent chance under these conditions. Both players are struggling with form, so we expect a tough match for both players.

That being said, Duckworth covering the games handicap is a value bet.

Value bet/ the best odds: James Duckworth +2.5 games handicap @2.00 @bet365

Kecmanovic – Hijikata: 03.10.2024 06:30 CEST
H2H: 0-1

Miomir Kecmanovic has lost three of his last five matches. Last week in Beijing, Kecmanovic lost his opening match against Griekspoor in three tight sets. Miomir is outside the top 50 in the rankings, so he is hoping for a solid result this week to get back where he belongs. Kecmanovic started off this season well, reaching the second week of the Australian Open. However, since then, Miomir has not had any remarkable results. Last year in Shanghai, Miomir retired in his opening match against Bu.

Rinky Hijikata has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Tokyo, Hijikata failed to qualify for the main-draw tournament, losing against Bellucci in the final qualifying round. Before that, Hijikata reached the quarterfinals in Hangzhou, where he lost against Nakashima in straight sets. Rinky had his biggest results this season on the fast hard courts such as this one. He was consistent throughout the whole season, and is now looking to get closer to the top 50 in the rankings.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Kecmanovic is the favorite in this matchup. Earlier this season, Hijikata defeated Kecmanovic in straight sets under similar conditions. Kecmanovic is out of form, so we expect Hijikata to keep this match tight.

That being said, Hijikata covering the games handicap is a value bet.

Value bet/ the best odds: Rinky Hijikata +2.5 games handicap @1.83 @bet365
