ATP Masters Shanghai Best Bets Including Berrettini vs O´Connell

Matteo Berrettini Australian Open

ATP Masters 1000 Shanghai 1/64-Finals

O´Connell – Berrettini: 03.10.2024 08:00 CEST
H2H: first meeting

Christopher O’Connell has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Tokyo, Christopher reached the 1/8-Finals as a qualifier, where he lost against Michelsen in straight sets as we predicted. Before that, O´Connell also won the challenger title in Guangzhou, winning against Shimabukuro in three tight sets. Last year in Shanghai, Christopher lost his opening match against Van de Zandschulp in three tight sets.

Matteo Berrettini has won four of his last five matches. Last week in Tokyo, Matteo reached the 1/8-Finals, where he retired mid-match against Fils due to an abdominal injury. We are still not sure if Matteo is 100% fit for this matchup. Considering his injuries, Berrettini did not play many matches this season, but has done a great job in almost every single tournament. Matteo won four championship matches, and lifted three titles this season.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Matteo is the big favorite in this matchup. We are not sure if he will be ready for this match. On the other hand, Christopher did a solid job so far in the Asian Swing. We believe that he will be fully confident coming into this match. O´Connell is a big server, so we believe that he will be able to keep this match tight.

That being said, O´Connell covering the games handicap is a value bet.

Tu – Giron: 03.10.2024 08:00 CEST
H2H: first meeting

Li Tu has won three of his last five matches. Tu is looking for a solid result this week to cement his top 200 status. Here in Shanghai, Li successfully fought through the qualifying tournament. In the first qualifying round, Kukushkin retired late in the second set against Tu. Yesterday, in the final qualifying round, Tu defeated Xiao in straight sets. He spent most of his time this season at the challenger tour level.

Marcos Giron has lost five straight matches. Giron is on the verge of dropping outside the top 50 in the rankings. His last win was over two months ago in Newport, where he won the title on the grass court. His last hard court win was in February, where he defeated Daniel in Los Cabos. Last year in Shanghai, Giron lost in the second round of the tournament against Sinner in two tight sets.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Giron is the slight favorite in this matchup. Even though his form has been poor recently, we still believe that Marcos is a way better player than Tu. Giron has a decent chance to get back to his winning runs. We believe that his experience will prevail in this match, and that he will get the job done easily.

That being said, Giron winning is a value bet.
