In the quarterfinals, Sinner defeated Lehecka in straight sets as we predicted. Jannik won the first set easily 6-2. However, in the second set, both players were great on serve. Sinner even had to save consecutive set points in the tiebreak. Today, in the semifinals, Jannik defeated Bu in straight sets. This has been the most successful season for the young Italian, who became just the fourth player to win two hardcourt Grand Slams in a single season. Jannik is the defending champion here in Beijing.
Carlos Alcaraz has won eight straight matches. Alcaraz helped Team Europe win the Laver Cup. He won both of his singles matches in straight sets, and showed great tennis. After Carlos lost in the final of the Olympic Games against Djokovic, his form dropped. It affected him mentally, but it looks like Carlos is playing at the highest level yet again. Here in Beijing, Carlos defeated Mpetshi Perricard in tight straight sets as we predicted. Mpetshi served well, but fumbled under pressure when it was most important. After that, in the 1/8-Finals, Alcaraz showed great tennis, winning against Griekspoor 6-1 6-2. Carlos did not offer any breakpoints throughout the whole match. It was one of his best matches as of recently. In the quarterfinals, Carlos defeated Khachanov in straight sets. The first set was a roller coaster, but Alcaraz stayed calm and won the set 7-5. The second set was one-sided in his favor. Today in the semifinals, Carlos defeated Medvedev in straight sets as we predicted. Last week, Carlos lost his world number 2 ranking to Alexander Zverev. However, with his recent run here in Beijing, Alcaraz quickly returned to 2nd spot in the world. Last year in Beijing, Alcaraz reached the semifinals, where he lost against Jannik Sinner in straight sets.

According to the bookies, this should be a 50-50 match. Jannik struggled throughout the whole tournament. His draw was also favorable. Sinner is yet to face a top 20 player here in Beijing. On the other hand, Alcaraz is yet to lose a set, and has faced some dangerous opponents throughout the whole week.
