The final four matches of the second round will take place at the WTA Seoul event on Thursday. There are a number of interesting matches on the slate on day four at the Korea Open and, as always, we here at LWOT will be offering our predictions for every match. But who will advance to the quarterfinals and who will fall to defeat?
WTA Seoul Day 4 Predictions
Amanda Anisimova vs Viktoriya Tomova
Head-to-head: Anisimova 1-0 Tomova
It was not an easy first-round match for Amanda Anisimova but she is safely through to the next round. She looked bothered by the scorching heat towards the end of the match but will be pleased to get it done in straight sets. Anisimova is in great form and a nightmare for anyone at the Korea Open. Hrad court is not the most successful surface for Viktoriya Tomova and Anisimova’s powerful hitting might be too much for the Bulgarian player.
Prediction: Anisimova in 2
Emma Raducanu vs Yue Yuan
Head-to-head: first meeting
Emma Raducanu did extremely well to win her first-round match against a tricky player in tough conditions. It was not the cleanest match from either player but Raducanu fought well in the tiebreaks. She did look short of match fitness and the forehand was all over the place. She must improve to win against Yue Yuan, who had a slow start in her first-round match but cruised after the first set. Yuan’s serve was a weapon for her. This will be a great test for both players and I have Yuan progressing.
Prediction: Yuan in 3
Beatriz Haddad Maia vs Ajla Tomljanovic
Head-to-head: first meeting
Beatriz Haddad Maia is coming off a great run at the US Open and, should be full of confidence. She has won 8 of her last 10 matches and will look to keep that momentum. The Brazilian player will face Ajla Tomljanovic, who won a close three-setter in the first round. Her form hasn’t been ideal to take on a strong player like Haddad Maia and hope to win.
Prediction: Haddad Maia in 3
Daria Kasatkina vs Hailey Baptiste
Head-to-head: first meeting
Daria Kasatkina is the highest-ranked player in the draw and will look to have a great run. Kasatkina has been struggling a lot since the grass season ended and hasn’t won consecutive matches since Wimbledon. However, this is a great opening match for her and I can’t see her losing to Hailey Baptiste, who had a surprisingly good performance in the first round. But Kasatkina won’t let this slip.
Prediction: Kasatkina in 2
