ATP Hangzhou Best Bets Including Moutet vs Carballes Baena

Corentin Moutet, a Challenger Tour champion last week, in action.

ATP 250 Hangzhou 1/16-Finals

Moutet – Carballes Baena: Time TBA
H2H: 4-1

Corentin Moutet has lost three of his last five matches. The last match he played was at the US Open, where he lost against Korda in straight sets in the first round of the tournament. So far this season, Moutet has not had any remarkable results. Most of his matches were at the challenger tour level on the clay courts. He has played only six hard-court matches this season, and has an even 3-3 record. Last year around this time, Moutet was in terrible form. He had a six-match losing streak.

Roberto Carballes Baena has won five straight matches. Last week in Spain, Roberto won the challenger title in Seville on clay. This may not have been the best decision, considering that he played on clay, right before the Asian swing where the courts are very fast. His last hard court match was at the US Open, where he lost against Shang in the second round of the tournament. Baena did not have any remarkable results this season on the hard courts.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Moutet is a slight favorite in this matchup. We believe that Baena will need some time to adapt to these fast surfaces. Both players are struggling on the fast courts. However, Moutet trained and prepared for the Asian swing, so we believe that he will be ready for his opening match against Carballes Baena.

That being said, Moutet winning is a value bet.

Nardi – Marozsan: Time TBA
H2H: 0-1

Luca Nardi has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Guangzhou, Nardi played a challenger tournament, where he reached the semifinals, losing against Shimabukuro in straight sets. It was a solid preparation tournament for him to get ready for the Asian swing. Nardi is looking for a solid result here to cement his top 100 spot. So far this season, Nardi has had his biggest results at the challenger tour level on the clay courts. His biggest hard court result was reaching the final at the challenger tournament in Chennai, earlier this season.

Fabian Marozsan has lost three of his last five matches. The last match he played was at the US Open, where he reached the second round, losing against Medvedev in straight sets as we predicted. Fabian is lurking around the top 50. He needs to start winning, to secure his top 50 spot. His biggest hard court result was reaching the quarterfinals in Miami, when he lost against Zverev in tight straight sets.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Marozsan is the slight favorite in this matchup, and we agree with that. Marozsan established himself playing at the highest level. We believe that he will be a better player on the court tomorrow, and win comfortably against Nardi. Luca spent most of his time playing at the challenger tour level, so we believe that he still needs to improve on the faster courts such as this one.

That being said, Marozsan winning in straight sets is a value bet.
