WTA Guadalajara Semifinal Predictions Including Caroline Garcia vs Magdalena Frech

Caroline Garcia in action ahead of the WTA Rouen Open.

The semifinals are set at the Guadalajara Open Akron and only one player remains from the top four seeds. It is a great opportunity for all the remaining players to get a WTA 500 title, especially for Magdalena Frech and Olivia Gadecki, who have never won a WTA Tour title. As always, we here at LWOT will offer our predictions for both the semifinals. But who will advance to the finals?

WTA Guadalajara Semifinal Predictions

Camila Osorio vs Olivia Gadecki

Head-to-Head: First meeting

Camila Osorio displayed some great skills to edge out Kamilla Rakhimova in the quarterfinals. She served at a high rate and was clutch in the first set tiebreaker, which proved pivotal as she ran away with the second set. Osorio has a great chance to make the finals, and if she manages to win the title, she will be back in the top 50.

It has been an incredible run for Olivia Gadecki, who never reached a quarterfinal on the main tour before this week. She backed her biggest win over Danielle Collins by defeating Martina Trevisan in three sets. The Australian player has dropped just one set so far, and her serve is a weapon in these altitude conditions. She can make her top 100 debut if she wins against Osorio.  It would be a close match but I am backing the Colombian.

Prediction: Osorio in 3

Caroline Garcia vs Magdalena Frech

Head-to-head: Garcia 0-1 Frech

Caroline Garcia did not have to play her quarterfinal match as Marie Bouzkova gave a walkover. It’s a great result for the Frenchwoman, as she has a horrible record against Bouzkova. Garcia will hope to capitalize on this as she needs some momentum. She is the highest remaining seed left in the draw and is a favourite to win the title if she plays her best tennis.

Magdalena Frech will have other ideas as she would like to spoil the party for Garcia. The Czechia player is undoubtedly capable of doing so, as she demonstrated at this year’s Australian Open, where she defeated Garcia in straight sets. Frech also has the advantage of playing two more matches this week. However, the conditions favour Garcia’s aggressive game style, especially her first serve. If she can limit her unforced errors, she will win.

Prediction: Garcia in 3
