Day 4 at the WTA 250 in Monastir, Tunisia has some second round matches outstanding. We look at the four on the schedule for today. Will there be any surprises or will everything go to script?
Monastir Day four predictions
Greet Minnen vs Zeynep Sonmez
Head to Head: 2-0
Greet Minnen as the seed should be the favorite here. However, Zeynep Sonmez as a qualifier has already battled through to set up another meeting with the Belgian. Both previous meetings were last season, one in the qualifying round of the US Open. Minnen should have no issue with getting into the next round.
Prediction: Minnen in 2
Lucia Bronzetti vs Ann Li
Head to Head: 0-1
Lucia Bronzetti is the seed here, but Ann Li defeated the Italian on the last meeting. The last time they met was on grass, at Wimbledon in 2022. Bronzetti, though, is better on hard courts than grass. The seed eased through the first round and should not have a problem levelling the head to head with Li.
Prediction: Bronzetti in 2
Yuriko Miyazaki vs Antonia Ruzic
Head to Head: 1-0
Yuriko Miyazaki defeated Antonia Ruzic the last time they met. The meeting was this season in Trnava. The Brit has suffered early exits in recent tournaments and failed to qualify for the US Open. Ruzic came through qualifying and defeated the fourth seed in the first round. The Croatian could suffer from seed bounce in this round, especially as Miyazaki has already defeated her this season.
Prediction: Miyazaki in 3
Elise Mertens vs Eva Lys
Head to Head: First Meeting
Elise Mertens is the top seed and will be wanting to go deep in the event. The Belgian made the fourth round at the US Open before being stopped by the second seed. Eva Lys battled through the first round to set up this meeting. The German will be a test for Mertens, but the Belgian should progress.
Prediction: Mertens in 3
