Otto Virtanen – Jack Draper
Otto and Jack are the best ranked players for Finland and Great Britain. This meeting will be played indoors on hard. Virtanen reached the second round of the US Open as a qualifier, where he lost against de Minaur in straight sets. Virtanen is a heavy hitter, and loves to play on the indoor hard courts. However, he is still a challenger tour level player. He is looking to get some solid results in this part of the season to get into the top 100. Draper is playing his best tennis at the moment. He reached the semifinals at the US Open last week, where he lost against Sinner in straight sets.
We believe that Draper is a way better player than Virtanen at that moment. Jack is a top-20 player, and we expect him to dominate from the very start against Virtanen.
That being said, we believe that Draper will get the first win for Great Britain.
2nd potential matchup:
Eero Vasa – Billy Harris
Eero and Billy are the second best ranked players for Finland and Great Britain. Eero Vasa plays at the ITF level, and is currently ranked around the top 700. He is far away from the ATP tour level. On the other hand, Harris played consistently throughout the whole season. He is looking to get into the top 100 in the rankings. Billy had his best results on the grass courts. He loves to play fast tennis, so this should be a perfect surface for him.
We believe that Harris will get the job done easily against Vasa. He is a far better player, so we expect him to win easily.
That being said, we believe that Harris will get the second win for Great Britain.
3rd potential matchup:
Evans/Skupski – Heliovaara/Niklas-Salminen
We expect Great Britain and Finland to play their doubles matches like this. Evans and Skupski have been playing together at the Davis Cup level for a while now. Both of them have great service, and great volleys. Heliovaara reached the 1/8-Finals of the US Open with his partner Patten. They lost against Koolhof and Mektic in straight sets. His Davis Cup partner, Niklas-Salminen, spent most of the season at the challenger tour level with his partner Ji Sung Nam.
Evans and Skupski have been playing together already. We believe that their tennis is on a higher level, and that they will dominate in this match.
Best Bet to Make
Great Britain has better players than Finland. With Emil Ruusuvuori not playing for Finland, the Brits should get the job done easily. Finland does not have a single top-100 player on their roster, so it is hard to expect them to do anything in this matchup.
That being said, Great Britain winning 3-0 is a value bet.
