ATP US Open final
Sinner – Fritz: 08.09.2024 20:00 CEST
H2H: 1-1
Jannik Sinner has won eleven straight matches. Before the US Open, Jannik won the title in Cincinnati, winning against Tiafoe in the final as we predicted. Here in New York, Jannik won his first round match against McDonald in four sets as we predicted. Sinner looked emotionally exhausted in that opening match. He was obviously affected by the recent doping news. After that, in the second round, Sinner defeated Michelsen in straight sets as we predicted. Jannik lost his serve twice in the opening set. However, he stepped up his level in the second set, and after that, it was a one-sided match. The world number 1 won his third round match against O’Connell in straight sets as well. Christopher had now no answer to Sinner’s game. Jannik had an amazing serving performance, not offering any breakpoints throughout the whole match. Yesterday, in the 1/8-Finals, Sinner defeated Paul in straight sets. Jannik was 1-4 down in the first set, but fought back and won the set through tiebreak. Both players played a great second set, but Jannik won the most important points and won the set once again through the tiebreak. In the quarterfinals, Jannik defeated Medvedev in four sets. It was a roller-coaster match, with both players having their ups and downs. After that, in the semifinals, Jannik defeated Draper in straight sets. Last year in New York, Jannik lost in the fourth round against Zverev in five tough sets.
Taylor Fritz has won six straight matches. Besides winning the title in Delray Beach earlier this season, Fritz did not have any remarkable results on the hard courts. In the first round of the tournament, Fritz defeated Ugo Carabelli in easy straight sets as we predicted. It was an easy opening round for the American. Taylor lost his serve twice in the first set, but after that, Taylor had a great serving performance in the second and third sets. After that, in the second round, Taylor defeated Berrettini in easy straight sets. It was overall a great performance from the young American. Matteo had no answer for his game. Fritz had another great performance in the third round against Comesana. Taylor won that match in straight sets as we predicted. He offered and saved three breakpoints, playing great under pressure. In the 1/8-Finals, Fritz had his toughest challenge so far in the tournament. He lost the first set against Ruud, but stayed calm and turned the match around. Fritz made too many unforced errors in the first set. Once he started playing better, Ruud had no chance against him. In the quarterfinals, Taylor defeated Zverev in four tight sets as we predicted. After that, in the semifinals, Fritz won against Tiafoe in five sets as we predicted. Last year in New York, Taylor reached the quarterfinals, where he lost against Djokovic in straight sets.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Jannik is the favorite in this matchup, and we agree with that. He has already won a Grand Slam title, so we believe that his experience will prevail in this match. Fritz spent more time on the court throughout the tournament, so we believe that Sinner will be more rested on the court tonight.
That being said, Sinner covering the games handicap is a value bet.
