ATP US Open semifinals
Sinner – Draper: 06.09.2024 Time TBA
H2H: 0-1
Jannik Sinner has won ten straight matches. Before the US Open, Jannik won the title in Cincinnati, winning against Tiafoe in the final as we predicted. Here in New York, Jannik won his first round match against McDonald in four sets as we predicted. Sinner looked emotionally exhausted in that opening match. He was obviously affected by the recent doping news. After that, in the second round, Sinner defeated Michelsen in straight sets as we predicted. Jannik lost his serve twice in the opening set. However, he stepped up his level in the second set, and after that, it was a one-sided match. The world number 1 won his third round match against O’Connell in straight sets as well. Christopher had no answer to Sinner’s game. Jannik had an amazing serving performance, not offering any breakpoints throughout the whole match. In the 1/8-Finals, Sinner defeated Paul in straight sets. Jannik was 1-4 down in the first set, but fought back and won the set through tiebreak. Both players played a great second set, but Jannik won the most important points and won the set once again through the tiebreak. In the quarterfinals, Jannik defeated Medvedev in four sets. It was a roller-coaster match, with both players having their ups and downs. Last year in New York, Jannik lost in the fourth round against Zverev in five tough sets.
Jack Draper has won five straight matches. In his opening match here in New York, Zhang retired mid-match against Draper. Jack was 2–0 sets up, and 4-0 up in the third set, when Zhang decided to retire. After that, in the second round, Draper defeated Diaz Acosta in straight sets as we predicted. Facundo had no chance against Jack, who said that he was enjoying his time in New York. His serve was just unstoppable throughout the whole match, not losing his serve once. Draper also dominated in his third round match against Van de Zandschulp, winning in straight sets. After Botic upset Alcaraz in the second round, he failed against Jack. He was nowhere near his best level. In the 1/8-Finals, Draper defeated Machac in easy straight sets. It was another great performance from the Brit, not losing his serve once in the match. So far this season, Jack won his maiden title in Stuttgart, and finished as a runner-up in Adelaide at the beginning of the season. Yesterday in the quarterfinals, Jack defeated de Minaur in straight sets as we predicted. Jack is the only player in the tournament who is yet to lose a set. Last year at the US Open, Draper reached the 1/8-Finals, when he lost against Rublev in four tight sets.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Sinner is the big favorite in this matchup. Jack looked unplayable throughout the whole tournament, and played without pressure. We believe that his big serve will earn him some free points. Sinner is the best player in the world right now, but we believe that Draper will keep this match tight.
That being said, Draper covering the games handicap is a value bet.
