ATP US Open Fritz vs Zverev Best Bet

Alexander Zverev in action ahead of the ATP Vienna Open.

ATP US Open quarterfinals

Fritz – Zverev: 03.09.2024 Time TBA
H2H: 4-5

Taylor Fritz has won four of his last five matches. Besides winning the title in Delray Beach earlier this season, Fritz did not have any remarkable results on the hard courts. In the first round of the tournament, Fritz defeated Ugo Carabelli in easy straight sets as we predicted. It was an easy opening round for the American. Taylor lost his serve twice in the first set, but after that, Taylor had a great serving performance in the second and third sets. After that, in the second round, Taylor defeated Berrettini in easy straight sets. It was overall a great performance from the young American. Matteo had no answer for his game. Fritz had another great performance in the third round against Comesana. Taylor won that match in straight sets as we predicted. He scored and saved three breakpoints, playing great under pressure. In the 1/8-Finals, Fritz had his toughest challenge so far in the tournament. He lost the first set against Ruud, but stayed calm and turned the match around. Fritz made too many unforced errors in the first set. Once he started playing better, Ruud had no chance against him. Last year in New York, Taylor reached the quarterfinals, where he lost against Djokovic in straight sets.

Alexander Zverev has won four of his last five matches. Here in New York, Sascha dominated against Marterer in the first round as we predicted. Alexander lost the second set through the tiebreak. However, after that, Sascha stepped up his level and dominated against his fellow German. After that, in the second round, Zverev won convincingly against Muller in straight sets as we predicted. Sascha struggled in the second set tiebreak. He was 2-5 down, but hit some great backhands and turned the set around. In the third round, Zverev defeated Etcheverry in four tight sets. Sascha did not serve well, offering 15 breakpoints, which is unusual for him. Yesterday, in the 1/8-Finals, Zverev lost the first set against Nakashima. It seemed as if that made Zverev angry, who started playing unreal tennis, leaving Nakashima hopeless on the court. Sascha ended up winning the match in four easy sets. He only offered one breakpoint in the first set. Other than that, Sascha served well. So far this season at the Grand Slam level, Zverev reached the final in Paris where he lost against Alcaraz in five tough sets. At the beginning of the season, Sascha reached the semifinals at the Australian Open, where he lost against Medvedev after he was 2-0 up. Last year at the US Open, Zverev lost in the quarterfinals against Alcaraz in straight sets.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Fritz is the slight underdog in this matchup. Sascha is yet to face a top 30 player in the tournament. He has had a favorable draw so far, so we are yet to see how he will perform against the best players. Fritz has played great tennis so far, and we believe that he will be a better player on the court.

That being said, Fritz winning is a value bet.
