ATP US Open Best Bets Including Zverev vs Etcheverry

Alexander Zverev in action ahead of the ATP Vienna Open.

ATP US Open 1/16-Finals

Comesana – Fritz: 30.08.2024 Time TBA
H2H: first meeting

Francisco Comesana has won three of his last five matches. Last week in Winston-Salem, Comesana lost his first round match against Shang in straight sets. Here in New York, Comesana had his biggest result on the hard court of his career. In the first round, Francisco defeated Stricker in four tight sets. Yesterday in the second round, Comesana upset Ugo Humbert in four tight sets, after he lost the first set. After the US Open, Comesana will become a new top 100 player.

Taylor Fritz has lost three of his last five matches. Two weeks ago in Cincinnati, Taylor lost his first round match against Nakashima as we predicted. Besides winning the title in Delray Beach earlier this season, Fritz did not have any remarkable results on the hard courts. Yesterday in the first round, Fritz defeated Ugo Carabelli in easy straight sets as we predicted. After that, in the second round, Taylor defeated Berrettini in easy straight sets. It was overall a great performance from the young American. Last year in New York, Taylor reached the quarterfinals, where he lost against Djokovic in straight sets.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Fritz is the big favorite in this matchup. Looking at his second round performance against Berrettini, we can say that Fritz is one of the biggest favorites to go deep here in New York. Taylor is overall a way better hard court player than Comesana, so we expect him to dominate from the very start.

That being said, Fritz covering the games handicap is a value bet.

Value bet/ the best odds: Taylor Fritz -7.5 games handicap @1.73 @bet365

Etcheverry – Zverev: 30.08.2024 Time TBA
H2H: 0-1

Tomas Martin Etcheverry has won three of his last five matches. Here in New York, Tomas won his opening match against Mpetshi Perricard in easy straight sets. Yesterday, in the second round, Tomas won against Cerundolo in five tough sets. He spent over four hours on the court in a roller coaster match. Last year at the US Open, Etcheverry lost in the second round against Stanislas Wawrinka.

Alexander Zverev has won four of his last five matches. Two weeks ago in Cincinnati, Sascha reached the semifinals where he lost against Sinner in three tight sets. It was overall a very solid tournament for him to prepare for the US Open. Here in New York, Sascha dominated against Marterer in the first round as we predicted. After that, in the second round, Zverev won convincingly against Muller in straight sets as we predicted. Last year at the US Open, Zverev lost in the quarterfinals against Alcaraz in straight sets.

Best Bet to Make

According to the bookies, Zverev is the big favorite in this matchup. We believe that he will continue in this fashion, and win once again in straight sets. Etcheverry had an exhausting second round match, so we believe that he will be exhausted on the court. Zverev is one of the biggest favorites to win the title here, so we believe that he will win easily tomorrow.

That being said, Zverev winning in straight sets is a value bet.
