Last year at the US Open, Brandon lost his first round match against Djere in straight sets.
Lorenzo Musetti has won three of his last five matches. Two weeks ago in Cincinnati, Lorenzo lost in the 1/8-Finals against Tiafoe in straight sets. Before that, Musetti defeated Auger-Aliassime in Paris at the Olympic Games for the 3rd place medal as we predicted. Here in New York, Musetti won his opening match against Opelka in four sets. In the second round, Musetti won against Kecmanovic in five tough sets, after spending almost four hours on the court. Lorenzo is looking to get a solid result here in New York to secure his top 20 spot. Last year in New York, Musetti lost in the opening round against Droguet in five sets.
Best Bet to Make
According to the bookies, Nakashima is the slight favorite in this matchup. So far in the tournament, Brandon showed better tennis than Musetti. Lorenzo spent way more time on the court than Nakashima. We expect Brandon to be well rested, and dangerous from the very start against Musetti.
That being said, Nakashima winning is a value bet.
